If you could build something along the lines of that old B&W photo it would be brilliant. I have always loved seeing that picture. Wish I could rummage around and find a dusty old Leston wheel!

Unfortunately, I have been building modified cars for far too long, Nearly 40 years now, and have amassed a finite amount of old tat in various shapes and forms, As for the B&W pic, I HOPE to emulate the style of the car, the only thing I am going to change is the rear arch treatment, probably keep the stock style arches or similar

Atmo V8 Power . No slicks , No gas + No bits missing . Doing it in style. Austin A35van, very different------- but still doing it in style, going to be a funmoble

There are some pics floating round of a 7 on top of a Caterham type chassis , eBay normally has a selection of half built cars done of them running and driving . Would save a big chunk of time and money if you get a part built with the right engine in

Yep seen them, the body is widened and lengthened, and its allready done, Nice Idea, same as in the 70s there was a ford pop running on a Lotus Elan Chassis, think it was called Lotus Eater, for the 7 I would think a Elise chassis would be a good swap

What about an mx5 donor with a simple ladder connecting the front and rear subframes ? Shorten the centre spine to suit the wheelbase ,

Wheelbase is 75" or 1.9mtrs and thats the long wheelbase version, Mazda has been thought about, but to get the engine inside the bonnet I would have to move the engine so far back it becomes impractical,, the scuttle is 700mm the rad shell is 400 wide, and the depth of the bonnet is 670mm, that dosent include the bulkhead/footwell that protrudes into the engine bay which is about 100mm a intrusion, the car is TINY

Nice thought, I have thought about it, initially it was my first choice, especially as there is one on here for sale, 13b on a weber, they weigh in about 250+lbs, then the gearbox so I would guess about 350 all in, which is over half the weight of the car, part of the Idea of not needing much power is not much weight overall, the car in stock form weighs about 750lbs although the engine will make lots of power its not an option, to run the rotary I am looking at making the drivetrain heavier, stronger wheels etc

Would a reliant kitten chassis fit. As for engine choice I have allways fancied something like this with a v tec.

God thats a short wheelbase the shortest I can think of is the spitfire or maybe a scimitar ss1 84" wheelbase with separate chassis and Some 1\2decent engines just a thought as may save an iva test

Bike engine is working for me at the moment, I don't want to go down the big HP engines, I don't think 125 hp and 100ftlbs of torque in a 700lb car which I think is near 350hp per metric ton, so I don't think it will be a slouch, Options seem to be big torquey like the Honda Pan European 1100, shaft driven v4 and looks like a baby hemi, or perhaps a big suzuki TL twin,

Torquey Honda engine sounds like a go'er to be honest, you get a cool look, and usable power.

kitten engine is the obvious choice id say, as its largely based on the A7 engine to start with. i hope you do build something similar to the B+W pic, as its pretty damn cool.

Torquey Honda engine sounds like a go'er to be honest, you get a cool look, and usable power. It would have to be a K-Series one as the D, B and H series motors rotate the incorrect way for just about every single gearbox on the planet. It would look extremely cool though with a K20 or an MX5 lump. Rysz.

Honda S800 chassis has a 2meter wheelbase and they rarely rust.
there have been a few cars on Ebay with spare chassis and i would think there are quite a few S800 club members with a spare chassis or two that they would probably sell.
i have mine out of the car if you want to have a look at one and measure it. i'm not far from Sidley.
