Having looked at a few mk1 metros to invest in, those that i did were either rotten or full of filler/bad repairs, i spotted this one on metro owners club website, advertised for £700, i thought it seemed a good price, but i decided to bide my time and wait, glad i did as the price dropped a few times, so i thought what the hell, for the price it was rude not to! So 2 and a half hour drive later, we were in huddersfield! The car had some unknown running issues but i managed to patch it up long enough to get me to J28 on the M1.... A few hours later we were all safe at home! Thanks rac for the tow lol Found the running issue to be a blown head gasket.. This was replaced, timing checked, idle adjusted and engine and carb cleaned with old school redex thats poured directly into the carb on a fast idle, clears all the muck out! Runs lke a dream now! Had to change a few bits though.. The ride height and fitting my banded steels, lovin it!

I have another one thats only done 18k miles from new, but its a bit battle scared where the old dear who used to own it hit a kerb and a wall lol I also had another but in blue that i ran on 10" banded mini wheels, but that 1 was rotten and full of filler lol And i rescued this one but passed it on as i didnt have time to sort it out (was VERY crusty underneath)

Isn't it strange how a clean set of banded steels can make a car look so much better.

Very cool. Banded steels and Cinnabar Red paint (think that's the shade?) look great. I learnt to drive in an A-reg City in the same colour all of 20 years ago - big bus wheel and not even a passenger wing mirror. Here's mine if the pic works. Looks nicer than it is, but I like throwing good money after bad at it... img18.imageshack.us/img18/8524/ee5j.jpg"]

As with all cars u always end up chuckin money at them to keep them going, the difference with retro cars is that there worth it unlike modern cars that cost ££££ to sort, where as retro/classics only cost ££ lol

Glad everyone approves! Had a lot of stick of people sayin rot boxes, ugly cars, waste of money etc but I like em i say plums to them all, especially when the comments come from people who think "individuality" is choosing glacier white astra instead of polar white.

I used to run skodas...the rear engine 1s....and the people who slag them off were quick enough to have a lift when it was raining
