That brings back happy memories The arches look in remarkably good condition on yours, mine were full of filler Lowered, set of 13" alloys and you can't go far wrong. 1st mod I did to mine was out with the hair drier and got rid of all the badges A good mod if you can fund it is to replace the VV carb with the webber replacement, much more reliable carb. They don't go too bad either the 1.1's

Very, very nice car.
Simple, discreet mods are good. Give it a good service and check the valve clearances. I had one of these from new and the 1.1 is pretty nippy indeed. The carb mod is very sensible indeed. Mine was a Pop Plus but registered in 1984 (A599 JLV - now long gone)and I had to add my own centre console! Minimalistic indeed.

Hello there and welcome to mk2 Fiesta ownership. That looks like a clean car and a good base to start with. I recognise the car you want it to look like. That car now has Starmag Alloys and VW Golf mk1 wheel arches.

I love these mk1s/2s fiestas there is one near where I live which is very clean i'll get some pictures and according to Classic Ford Mag they are going to start rising in value very soon so a good investment too! My dad just told me he had one just like this and it scared the life out of him as hes used to bigger cars...

If you use a toffee wheel on a drill that will get it off. It looks like it damages paint but I used them loads of times and no problems just persevere with it. Car looks lovely I. Used to have an XR2 most fun I ever had in a car!

Finally got a picture of one of those chassis rails... The same on the other side but not as bad. Will have to get it on a jig and get it on its side, have a good look underneath and repair it all. Ignore all the oil down there.. the engine had a little leak and sprayed underneath (now fixed)

Little question, I will be lowering it...not straight away, but it will happen. How low should I go? I want it to be slammed! but still be able to drive it when I do.. My Dad will probably help me with this so its not a big problem but I was just wondering what you guys thought?

From memory (and it was a long time ago) a set of Spax -40mm XR2 springs brought mine down so the rear arch was about level with the top of the tyre. After a couple of months I got bored and 2 coils each also went

nice car had a few of these, recently had 30,000 miles from new one, bought it for £200! great cars and a fine starting point into classic cars good choice fella, and enjoy working on it god I feel old now 30 years ago I was your age tinkering with a mk1 escort, somewhere about 500 cars later I'm still playing with old fords!
