[quote author=" HoTWire" source="/post/1896197/thread" timestamp="1390921694 yes please, that would be ace! [/quote] Just asked him, he's not entirely sure, although he drives past his house each day (they live in the same village) this time of year Mike's garage is shut up so he doesn't get to see if it's there. The last he knew he was trying to sell it for £48k (this rings a bell with me from the feature in C.A Mag), he also took it to the Nationals show in Ipswich last year. For those that don't know its a replica of the MantaRay concept, it's a C3 chassis with a Sting Ray body chopped to lok like a MantaRay and Mike's is fitted wit a C4 engine and box

If that's the one I think it is, it was sold on ebay in early 2010 in pretty poor shape (I think it was yellow at that point & on the Isle of Wight). Then in late 2011 it was for sale again, having had a lot of work done, running & MOTed. Still with a pinto & autobox, but (matt?) black (with flames) & pinstriping on the tailgate. I went to look at it in Southampton. The owner was moving abroad IIRC.

My mate owned that Amazon for a while. Matthew Hale was his name. He bought it running but with terrible paint. We both did the filler work and sprayed it matt black and got it MOT'd back in about 1993 ish. He eventually swapped it for a Beetle at the Guildford Cruise. I was told that it was originally built by the then leader of the Surrey Street Rodders. The interior was deep buttoned velour throughout.

For two years running I've not made RRG, maybe 2014 I'll actually manage it. I'll at least have a suitable car if the Street Machine theme pans out, allbeit with a lot more work to the paintjob I'm working on. I think that is looking good - really suits the car. Well done.
Ray.

Just MOTed this today for a customer, after a lengthy zetec conversion to replace the tired pinto it was built with, and update of various parts. I don't know when it was built, but its very street machine style. This was built by my mate Dave Brown from the Bexley area. He owned it for a while but did the full Kustom job only several years ago. It was metalflake blue when first finished. The "tired Pinto" lived in my front garden for about a year before going in the Minor.

ill chime in, i grew up reading my uncles cast off sm and cc mags. andy saunders audi, the cars for a grand feature with andy kellys blue kadett, and a juiced cresta, the blue 300e with a big block, the fairground vw bug shoot with saab rims, the doc john claytons willys, the 5 litre vauxhall viscount, and more i do know the dole money cruiser chevette still exists, and has an xe in her now? The "Cars for a grand" feature included my purple PC Cresta but wasn't juiced at the time. That happened the following year & had pics in Custom Car & in Practical Classics in a Bromley Pagent advert of all things !!!! ## The Cresta is sadly no more & this pic above (if this link works) was taken about half hour before I started tearing it apart. My ex wife vandalised it quite badly (twice) & the hydraulics were literally un-stitching the seams of the car as it was just a wee bit rusty. Once stripped, the shell was scrapped & all the parts sold at the NSRA swap meet at Arena Essex. It was Juiced by Ray at Ravern Hydraulics around the same time as "The Joker" VW Beetle & the Granada Hearse (when it was still black). The 5.0 Viscount belonged the my mates Tony Hills & Speedy. Last I heard it went from white to dark blue. That was about 15 years ago though..........

Now I can see the little bits left, though.

That Husky was really nicely put together, the detail was great on it. Sadly I had to throw away boxes of Street Machine magazines last year, I couldn't even give them away. Shaun crowe who owns VW Scene has this in Preston I've been out in it
