Heres the new project, cost £100 First job was to get rid of the lump which was sold for £150 Then to start the engine conversion, 1.5d pug lump which will be turbo'd. To take the extra power I fitted a 106 gti flywheel so I can run the vit 200mm clutch Then to start on the body lift 3 " homemade using scaffold tube and tube nuts and threaded bar Not finished yet as I had to move work and that ment moving vit to mum and dads.

Engine was slid on a spare box to sus what belhousing mods were needed Quite easy the top bolt pump side needed a very slight tweak (about 1mm) The top hole exhaust side I re drilled the block The bottom 2 were ovaled out to meet the engine Here it is all bolted up

This is interesting. How much power are you hoping for? Going to use 1.9 TD parts? If your anywhere near lincoln I have about 65L of WVO going cheap

The plan for the turbo is to sit it over the inner wing and make and exhaust to feed it Heres a home made turbo flange using a spare downpipe Then onto the diesel pump. Take one bosch 1.8td bx pump Steal its boost compensator and throttle plate I had to swap throttle plate as it was the opposite hand to the 106 pump. To do this I removed 2 triangle shape bolts out the pump then theres 2 springs behind the plate which need to be kept hold of and not dropped inside On rebuild I used 2 pieces of old tape measure to hold the springs in while I slid the throttle plate in. And heres the hybrid pump This is where I'm upto.

The spec will be 3" body and suspension lift with focus estate rear springs on rear and live front axle conversion using a sj samurai axle on 3/4 eliptical (goofy springs) leaf springs astra gte shocks all round as there very long travel then maybe 16" travel shocks in the future. Rose jointed rear a bar and maybe longer trailing arms. Tyres I'm hoping for either 31/10.50/15 recip trial m/ts or 235/85/16. Then straight threw exhaust to let turbo flow more than likely side exit and a snorkle so I can go swimming. Winch upfront and maybe a pulley system to be able to run cable to the rear. Loads more ive prob forgoten about

Why not just drop the xud engine in like it came standard on models? also confused as to why you didn't just but the whole pump on to it seems fair bit of messing when the xud pump bolts straight on

Xud pump wont bolt straight on its a different bore size and on slotted holes so in theory could move and drop the belt, you have to make an adapter plate to fit it. As for fitting the whole 1.9td, the bellhousings are rare and normally cost £250+ and I would still be in the high tax bracket this way I can have under 1.6 tax bracket and aswell I haven't spent a penny yet infact I'm £50 up as I have a stack of these lumps.

I'm hoping to run the 106 gti gasket as its multi layer steel rather than paper, I tried a lucas and a bosch xud pump and the bore hole is too large on the 106 block so the pump can move up and down left and right so I didn't wanna risk it. I'm hoping that off boost it will be good on fuel as its the std pump obviously on boost it will use more my old sj with a n/a 1.5d used to do 50-60mpg

The guy seems to get respectable mpg which is good but also gets good gains he had it on dyno at 133bhp which is cracking in a small car can't remember what that torque was but it was good non the less

If I get that kind of power I will be drifting everywhere especially when I get the auto lock rear diff in :-) what intercooler id he running? My turbo is an ihi off a avensis d4d it was free to a good home same as the sj axle and most the bits I'm using altho the engine did cost me 1.99 off ebay about 5 years ago was worth it for the bosch pump

133bhp off a 1.5 diesel with an oldskool mechanical pump? Mutha flippa!!!! That sounds like a recipe for a massive bang and a trip home on an orange lorry.
