I treated the white car to a clean up today ready for its MoT tomorrow. I oiled the plastics and added chrome trim to the bumpers because I like shiny things. Its scrubbed up ok, I'm pretty happy with how the front wing and sills turned out: I'm not 100% happy with the -down stance its got. I've stripped out the rear to try and lighten it and that got me about 10mm. I'll have to find a way to lower the front a bit more, I think I'll need different coilovers for that.

Hello there, lots of random advice, to get the plastics looking good you could use a hot air gun, it brings out the black pigment. As far as lowering goes, for best performance in a 205 you want the back about 1/2 inch lower than the front. Engine upgrades, mi16 is a good one preferably 1.9, brake upgrades, there are so many to go for if you fancied doing it, 406 coupe breaks are brembos. Have you thought about coil overs on the rear?
I do love 205's, we rally a 205 maxi you may have seen on here, I also used to have a 205 stdt.

Absolutely love it! ... Looks really cool mate.... I can't wait to get my 309 the same road height... Did you lower the rear torsion bar yourself? Keep the updates and pictures coming! Ps: snap on the beaded seat cover!

Ps: snap on the beaded seat cover! Yup, I did the beam myself, I did it the "cheat/traveller" method as I've seen it called, I didn't remove the bars, I just undid one end and hammered off the entire arm for that side. I'll be doing the red one soon, so I'll do a small guide if I get chance. The white car passed its MoT this morning so it'll be taking over daily duties next week once I tax it. I'm going to have to do something about the rear ride height though, as it scrubs if there is even the slightest camber on the road. It doesn't help that the lower model 205s don't have a rear anti-roll bar, so adding one might be my first step.

I think the white one will stay as it is, but I have plans to upgrade the the XE. I'm thinking Saxo VTR engine as it's already a TU engined car and the conversion seems relatively straightforward. I'd be interested to know if the 406 brakes will fit inside 13" wheels.

Looking great. I love 205s, nothing but fond memories of my past ones and my current CJ. Keep the updates coming!

yeah you need 15's for the the brembos, but you have to watch the offset, as there is two different makes of the 15 1.9 gti wheels

Cheers, I might be in contact about an engine at some point. I was thinking of buying a complete MoT failure VTR to do the conversion, but i'll have to see whats about when I've got the cash. yeah you need 15's for the the brembos, but you have to watch the offset, as there is two different makes of the 15 1.9 gti wheels I'd like to stick with 13s, so I guess I'll have to find a different brake setup.

Just a change of rims on the white car, had to take off the pepperpots, my commute route is on B-roads and the scrubbing on the rears was really bad. Popped the XS steelies on for the mo, and I'm in the process of painting them white to match the bodywork. I'll try and get some photos on Saturday. The red car is on hold for now as I'm just too skint to do anything with it until I get another job.

Current state of the heap... Not looking its best, but it does handle like a gokart on these wheels at this height, really enjoying driving it at the moment.

I think I must be getting old, because last week I decided I'd had enough of the coilovers and put the standard suspension back on the car. I also raised the torsion bars at the rear. I popped on a spare set of wheels I had in the garage, so I can use the XS wheels on the red car when I get back to it (one day...) Looks like a 4x4 in comparison to before, but the ride is great now.

So the white car has developed an issue, which according to bods on the 205 forum is a knackered diff bearing in the gearbox. It sounds like a sea-lion is trapped under the bonnet. So far its soldiered on with this problem, but as I'm guessing it'll not last too much longer I decided to re-MoT the red car. Here it is, looking the same as before. It needed a couple of ball joint dust covers and a patch welding in the boot, so I got to try my hand at welding. Its a solid, if not pretty fix. It may get pressed into daily use again if the white one breaks. If the white one does break I'm not 100% sure what I'll do with it.

Great pair of 205's. Brakes wise, 306 TD disks and calipers are a straight swap and fit under 13" steelies. A VTS/106 Gti lump is also an easy swap, think its only 8 wires to get it running and an easy instant 130bhp

I think VTR or VTS engine will be the way I go with this eventually. Its now taxed and being used, while the white one languishes on the driveway.
