The nose does look a bit high! I'm not used to looking at a standard height one but my guess would be that the front is high rather than the rear sitting low. Maybe someone put 280 or diesel springs in it at some point? There are different thickness spring pads available that sit in the top spring mount. It could be that those have been changed for thicker ones perhaps? I'd check that nothing else is making it sit high first, but if it does turn out to be the front springs, I'd cut one coil off the bottom and try that. Be aware that regular spring compressors won't do the job on these cars - you either need a proper Mercedes spring compressor that works from inside the spring, or unbolt the inner bolts on the lower arm and remove the spring that way, with a jack stopping the spring firing off and killing you (dangerous... I've done it this way but it's not ideal) Oh last question for the night... Does the W123 powersteering and steering box work on the W115? As mine doesn't have powersteering and I can get a complete W123 setup for around R850 (80 pounds) Not sure about that to be honest! Your car seems to have the later (wider) grille and slatted tail lights, but the early steering wheel and front bumper. Maybe the South African cars had different spec or something! Yeah was wondering about the whole nose in the air thing... I've got a set of springs from a 280 that has one coil cut on both the front and rear. So I will replace them with the stock(donno) front ones to see if it makes a difference. I'll also have a look at the spring pads maybe I can swap them out for thinner ones? Side note: I have a complete 280 W115 that was moddyfied for a roadster so basically have all the suspension drive train motor etc etc. left. so will swap parts to see what makes it look better Yeah I've see you need a special tool to remove the springs, my problem is the tool will cost more than what the car cost me so will need to do it the unsafe route. I'll just use some nice thick cable and tie it around the spring and the car so that if it does want to pop out it'll at least get cuaght on the cable. I'll be getting the power setup at the end of the month so will see if it fits. I changed the steering wheel to the ealier model one, I had the big ugly one on but the bumper is stock. Must say would love the flat tail lights. The slotted ones just doesnt do the car justice. thanks for all the info

Think I'll see what the one coil drop will do to the front. and then maybe rip out another coil aha. Thanks. Gonna try and get it sorted over the weekend. Otherwise I'll just macguyver something together to hold the bumper in place ah and thanks now I can go measure if the vw golf lights will fit. Otherwise I need to send my set in to get chromed again... :?

I have the same situation in Natal with potholes, police can identify drunken drivers because they drive straight whilst the sober public weave all over the road. Measured the pothole outside of work just for giggles 50 cm 20inches wide by 10cm 4inch deep killed many a tyre rim and even suspension

Ok so gave the old girl a couple of new bits for the engine. New plugs, leads, points and distributor cap. Now she's purring like a kitten. Need to do a oilchange still but no more monies left after the license has been paid up. Also my one fuse I think no 8 keeps on blowing... need to find out why. Still need to try and fit the rear bumper too. Oh and seems my alternator isn't charging my battery....
