Been out and about today, Done a 60 mile trip and started thinking to myself you just don't seem to see many older cars on the roads these days. The oldest car i seen today was a W reg bora.
Older cars seem to be disappearing quicker by the day. When was the last time you seen a mk3 fiesta mk3 astra or a mk5/6 escort. Even cars such as the volvo 850 or the smiley type transits
I suppose it's partly to do with the high price of scrap over the past few years and the government scrappage scheme before that seen a lot of good cars off the road.
Shame really.

In South Australia, you see late 1970s and early 1980s cars on the roads all the time. Anything '60s or earlier is unusual as a daily driver though.
I can't actually remember the oldest car I saw on the road today, as I didn't notice anything interesting.

Where I am in Essex near the coast I see old cars all the time. There is a diesel Mercedes think its a 76 on a P plate. There is a beaten up J redg Mitsubishi Colt, daily driver, faded paint dented not much rust, it keeps on going. There are a few maestros kicking around, a couple of 89 F redg Peugeot 205s. I also saw an old Granada herse the other day, twice ive seen it I need to get a pic, being used as a daily hack (lol) There is a Montego parked up in a driveway, it looks very complete I'm thinking of enquiring about it. I also see lots of mk4 escorts and a couple of ladas, you just need to keep your eyes open they are out there. Oh and my wifes Aunt has a Saab 9000 on a D plate(1986), faded paintwork but its rust free and drives really nice.

No idea, nothing interested me enough to notice. Probably the early 90s Iveco van over the road..
I think there's a combination of reasons. The scrappage scheme didn't just scrap cars, it provoked an attitude of a need to support our car industry. I have felt hostility toward my choice to drive an 80s car, if only once or twice.
90s cars have their time now to survive the culling, but so many have failed because frankly they were rubbish. Not the finest decade, where cars got heavy and dull through weight, at a time when it was suddenly all about safety and the environment, at the expense of corrosion protection..
Parts should be easier than ever to get hold of, what with the web, doesn't make them cheap. My local breakers is full of 307s and C3s, if its over ten years old it just gets crushed straight away. So running modern can be done so cheaply that running an old car isn't done for cost reasons anymore.

Definitely the 1930s Alvis we drove past in Chesterfield. Quite a surprising thing to see, more so since it was on the return trip from a friend looking at a 2 year old Corsa he's buying as a daily.

Today I saw an old car. It was nice. I think it was very old because it had black bumpers. Then I went home and had boiled potatoes with asparagus and dead cow. Tomorrow if the weather is nice Dad says we can go to the park.

I saw some kind of Austin from the 1950s rolling past the Krispy Kreme Cafe on the A3 this the morning (and no, that was not part of the RR Posse ). Even so, I saw a Sunbeam Alpine on the M40 twice today- heading towards London in the morning, and then heading back to the Midlands in the Evening. The poor chap probably though I was stalking him!
