I am a huge fan of any Mk1 RS escort... I'm jealous of anyone that owns one and I wish I could afford to buy a nice one some day but I doubt that will happen the way the prices just keep spiking! What I want to know though is when does it become silly trying to sell one of these cars when very little of it is actually left in one piece...?! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MK1-ESCORT-MEXICO-BFAT-AVO-BRAVE-RESTORATION-/161169374871I just don't know if this is worth the money (or any money for that fact)?! I am sure that it is to someone out there and it will get sold but what are you actually getting...?! This is just crazy...

They are just buying a log book and tags to put onto a heritage shell. Oh and a pallet of iron oxide.

I think that shell will shortly be on a one way journey - destination baked bean can. The combination of metal and rust visible in the photos is not the thing that anyone bidding on that is considering an important part of the deal.

So a few grand for a log book then... I never thought I'd own another Mk1/2 Escort because I just couldn't bring myself to pay 7 or 8k for a nice two door when I'd paid 400 quid for an equivalent car in the 90s. I bought my current estate as a bit of a midlife crisis move, and paid 3 grand for it, and it still needs a fair bit of bodywork. Must've had a knock on the head I think

Over 1k is a small price to pay for a piece of paper that will turn a stolen escort into a 25k pay day

I'm tired off the ford scene, been involved in it since i was 15 with my first mk1 escort, 30 years later ive finally quit the ford thing and got into old mercs and the vw scene fords are overpriced for what they are, and so much unscrupulous stuff is going on when you can buy a much better quality car with no serious rot and park it safely most places and not get ripped off for parts its a no brainer, ive owned more 60s 70s and early 80s fords than i can remember but cannot see me buying one in the future, kids mortgage and a great wife who still lets me enjoy the hobby within in financial reason! points me towards more affordable stuff.

This type of thing has been gone over time & time again. The 'market' dictates the price, Fords have always had that following & will probably stay that way. There is plenty of other stuff that has similar issues, case in point VW campers, crazy money, but if people pay the money, they will keep raising. Personally I hope RS Fords go through the roof price wise, but that's cos I've got one, who new?

What heratage shell ? that will end up with a 1.1 shell as the main part no doubt, as long as it's not stolen i cant see the problem "unless" it gets sold on as origional which it probably will be, then the problems start cos somone gets a (technicly) ringer.

If they didn't want to sell it on as an original then they would have no need for the ID. The reg not belonging to a mexico wouldn't be an issue if all they wanted it to be was a look a likey it goes on in the mini world all the time too, the other week there was a rovor mini cooper with the ID from something like a 1967. They didn't even try and make it look like a old one but where claiming it was in the add

Duly noted ************************************************** I will always keep my eyes peeled for that elusive RS stored in a dusty lock-up but I'm sure that'll even cost a fortune now. It just seems people are super savvy when it comes to the 'value' of their classic Ford...!!! However, the market dictates things and as long as people are prepared to pay large sums of money for these cars large sums of money will be asked for them! Simple... I just hope I can nab a nice 3-litre S Capri before they go too far out of my price range (they're heading that way quickly). Anyhow, who wants to go in on this R(usty) S(hed)...?!?!?!
