I think in time to come you will be very pleased and thankfull that you dnagged your Ace of Spades. The 60 onward trucks wwre much more car like and modern so you kinda need to do less to them than the gorgeous older trucks. I was already speaking to a guy in California about buying a stunning 57 for the "right money" at $12k but someone bought it from under me, next day I found my truck. It has more and better spec than I was prepared to settle for. These trucks are only going up in value. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy with the truck, its just I was looking for an earlier one when this one came along.
Yup..... Right thing, right time.
you got it! Just been out in the truck this morning, done about 30 miles, stopped and started about 4 times, then the last time I stopped I wouldn't start. It was as if it had a completely dead battery. Because I was almost home I got a mate to come give me a jump start. It started immediately. I then drove straight home and when I turned it off it started as normal, tried it again and its gone back to being completely flat. I'm about to go out now and look to see if it has bad earth. Fingers crossed its an obvious fix.

So my non starting fault turned out to be a dead battery. I ended up fitting another battery. Also while I was at it I put a fresh pair of battery terminals on as 1 was cracked and taped the cables up as they were the wrong colours. It had a red wire for the earth and black for live. I also fitted an extra earth as it can't hurt.

So i haven't had access to the internet for a few month other than my phone so haven't updated. Well a couple of months ago i decided the front of my truck was too high so i decided to lower it Gas Monkey style and chopped the front springs. Here's before. And here's after.

So I liked my Gas Monkey style lowering, the truck looked cool BUT it was too low, i only had 5cm clearance from my wishbones to the floor which meant it caught on everything, even bumps on the road. So after having a chat with Grizz and his mate Martin I ordered some new 2" drop springs from the states. heres the outcome. 1 new pair of springs and once fitted a slightly higher truck which doesnt catch any more.

oh yeah, my truck has a bit of rake, so when i used it to go get some turf for a mate I had to take a photo with it leveled out due to all the weight in the back. I am very tempted to lower the back now.

I have been humming and haaa-ing about whether We sould go there or go to our usual bootfair. Not sure if it is worth the drive up from Kent.
