I've been lurking in here for a few years now and had many retros that have come and gone and I've never posted any on here, so it's about time I did, here is my mk3 escort ghia.

She's not as good as she looks mate, but not a hound either, she likes to take on water at the moment I thought I'd cured it, but it's still getting in the tailgate and drivers rear footwell. Il have to rip the carpet out again sometime and have another look

She's a 1982, it's my first knock-kneed mk3 and I must say she handles a lot better than the later suspension setups but the ride is very unforgiving, not sure what springs she's on, I think the are 40mm ones. Also my first leaky mk3 (I've had 4 including a cabriolet and even that didn't leak) also my first 5 door il post up my previous mk3s in abit.

Here's my first mk3 and my first 'on the road car' chavtastic! It was a 1.3 L and like most 18 year olds first cars it met it's end hitting a hedge at about 80mph on a b road lol can you spot the cringe worthy orange parcel shelf? I'm not showing you the orange diy boot build tho lol

Nxt came my 1.6i cabriolet bought for £250 a week after killing the 3 door I added the fog lamps and 1600i stickers and a few other bits then had to sell it because my insurance quote was £2600 compared with the 3 doors £1300 at the time.

Number 3 and by far the best, a 1.3GL with 60k on it when I got it, I fitted the 1600i bib and xr3 spoiler and had a set of series one wheels then I crashed it (sunburst red is not a lucky colour) and sold it to a mate he repaired it then I bought it back and I added xr3i springs, xr3 interior and escort mk6 finesse 7 spoke alloys. Then like a fool I got bored and sold it!

Also on my past retro list is 2 novas, a mk1 fiesta, a mk2 fiesta, fiesta xr2i 8v, a Volvo 480es, a mk5b escort (kinda retro?) A rover 214 and a Mazda 323 but I'm not posting pics for these it's kinda off subject lol.

No plans as such just using her daily at the minute, I like the idea of a zetec sleeper but keep it a quiet and comfy cruiser too.

Choaky, what year did you own those mk3s? The first one looks a lot earlier than the others.

I owned A184 LBF in 2007 it looks more like 1997 in that pic because of the retros in the background but it's not lol the mk5 escort at the back was my mates dads it's long gone now and the xr2i on the drive was my mates car also gone the bx was just a neybours and lets assume that's scrap too lol.

1983 A reg -the very last of the 3dr Ghias (this one is a 1.6 in a rare colour aswell)

if it has a tilt and slide sunroof, slide it back into its aperture and shine a torch in there beneath the glass, the "tray" can rust out badly on these Ghias and it will leak from there, I know this first hand we had one years back and although the body was good overall the sunroof tray was rusted
