As per title - does anyone know about these Retro marvels, or where I can get spares?
I've been looking at B&O for a while since my relatives in Denmark introduced me to the make. The sound quality, build and design are excelent.
The main problem so far is that it's a Danish company, the B&O shops in the UK don't handle olders models and new ones are mega-bucks
I went visiting Denmark at Christmas and came back with a box of "scrap" B&O Beolit radios the family had picked up while ago at a jumble sale / auto jumble.
The current score after an evening of tinkering with the remains of the 9 radios (models ranging from Beolit 400 to 707) :
I have sounds from 8 of them, 1 is offically a parts donor
The sound quality on all is fantastic, especially for a small box fom the early 70s / mid 80s
Some are mains powered, some are battery-only, some are both.
Some of the working ones are incomplete for now as I just wanted to know if they could be brought back to life.
For I guess the parts I'm looking for to complete them are :
String (lots of!) - a slider uses pully and string to change the tuning, all the strings are snapped
Base plate (this slides to hold front & rear grilles - most baseplates are missing)
Carry handles (lots !)
Transformer
Speaker
Assorted buttons and knobs
Any ideas, suggestions, or links appreciated!
And a general question - if I only have the parts to complete half of the sets, which models do I finish and what do I do with the working but incomplete ones
Late edit for typos, and to add links to B&O reviews for some of the new arrivals :
