1963 country sedan station wagon

A 1963 ford (USA) Galaxie country sedan , this was known as a full size ford being as it's nearly 18' long and 7' wide . It seats 6 but some models seated 9 in comfort . The Galaxie was one of the top models in fords sport range of muscle cars in the early 60's . This has one of the smaller engines in the range being a puny 289 (4.7l)v8 , it puts out approx 220-240 bop and is running a 3 speed cruisomatic auto box , the previous owner redid the interior but I will get it done again as I'm not 100% happy with it lol.
I have so far had it resprayed in a white close to the original, fitted fender skirts , changed 2 barrel carb and cast iron intake to edelbrock performer intake and 4 barrel carb,
Full 4 way air suspension, complete braking system from twin pot master to new brake shoe springs, twin 2" stainless exhausts, Audi alternator to replace dynamo. + much much more lol.

Also fitted 2 new footwells , next job is to add a couple of bellflower exhaust tips to rear fenders , the 4 bar the axle

Thanks for all the comments . The air suspension was unbelievably easy to fit espesh as I have no mechanical knowledge of cars , this is my first car at the age of 50 lol. I have spent my whole life playing , tuning , rebuilding and customising lambretta's . I bought a kit for my wagon from ride tech in the USA and this is what I got .

Rear bags and fitting kit

AIRoverLeaf - 3000lb underframe / 2.5" leaf bracket kit by mark & anne's photos,
Install is easy tbh. first we dropped the coil overs and removed u bolts then lifted axle and supported it so it was out of way. we then removed the lower 2 leafs and the third one down as to help in the displacement of force through the leafs.we then made a spacer to replace the 2 leaves we had removed and mounted this along with the ridetech airbag plate to leaf and bolted it all up along with new dampers to axle, we then fitted air bag with top bracket fitted to it and jacked it up into position and marked the chassis prior to welding. air bag was then removed and bracket welded in place. refit air bag and plumb it in . the wheels wouldnt fit know even with axle dropped to lowest point (235/60/15) so i fitted my chrome smoothies with 205/70/14 narrow white walls on. its all done and only took 2 of us 4 hours woorking it out as we go .

i removed 1 more leaf ,put a 1" lowering block under leaf spring insulator and fitted 1" raising block to airbag so it wasnt at full extension even when just hanging on damper.

un inflated firestone 9000 airbag at full extension and still only 11 it must not max out at any more than 12" hence the spacer by mark & anne's photos, on Flickr
on full drop i have 4 3/4" clearance and the bag need 4 1/2" so that's good

when its fully inflated the damper stops the bag from topping out.this means i have 6 3/4" lift on rear .

firestone 9000 air bag jacked to full extension at 100psi and 11 1/2" by mark & anne's photos, on I have moved air tank and compressorunder the rear fender also have tank under otherside.

then i need to sort out my bellflower exhaust tips and lift the exhaust slightly on the r/h side

Thanks that will come in very handy. Air is the way to go with my 64 Mercury it looks the same underneath, only difference I can see is your Galaxie has coil overs.
Bellflowers will look cool

The coil overs were removed and replaced by kyb dampers ,I used shockwaves on front but if I was doing it againg I would use ride techs bag setup and relocate some dampers . What 64 mercury is it ?

Welcome to the forum.

Gorgeous wagon you have there, and even better with your updates. The spats really suit, as does the retrim.
I hope to see it at a show or two next year, it'd be interesting to get this and the morrisoxide Mercury together for some pictures.

I normally love skirts, but with the stance and the rime, I vote without. Skirts make it look dowdy
