They made them in Aus, based on the falcon, bit weird Ford UK would go to the trouble of designing thier own but they did mad things back then at AVO ect and ford europe havinng 2 Dr versions there really was no concept of a world wide model back then, there were so many differences around the world market it's surprising they made a proft What was the reg of the road leagal one? Interested in this if you have any pics or more info on it

I have 3 pictures of it so far as it is parked in. My mates shed getting rebuilt (costing me a small fortune). Reg is DLS 621 Y. As for info it was registered in the year 1982/83 and was brought to scotland and used as a daily car till my mates neighbour died and he brought as it being ne of a kind thing he continued with the cutsom idea and made thicker steel for it and also fitted 2" wider and 2" lower arches. It has a 2.8 v6 carbed engine with a auto gearbox, it is also in a colour i have never seen on any granada before. This is the oldest pictire i have of it This questions the concept theroy This is how she currently sits (strip down to restore it)

It seems unlikely that that is a factory job...it looks like a home-built (albeit quite cool) custom job to me.

Looks nice to me as well, pretty sure its based on a saloon too as the estate is nearly 4" longer on the rear, there was a mk3 pick up version but i cant remember if it was a factory job or a coachbuilt one off.

I'm pretty much of the same opinion TBH 1- If developed at Ford it would have most likely been on a opre reg'd press car, that is not a press fleet reg. 2 - If it was built on an unreged car i cant see it having made sale it would have been destroyed. 3- If Ford built it would of at least had a tailgate and more than likely some form of rear ventalation to the cab 4- TBH i've seen better granada picks up made in underground car park by banger racers IE working tailgates and decent bumpers, having said that i have also seen a lot worse, it looks ok as a car Not saying it is deffo not Ford built but the cards are stacked against it at the mo IMHO, i've asked a few others who are into development fords and they are of the same opinion, i would love to be proved wronge, i love ford development cars, i've spent the last 5 years recording and tracing the only Mk5 cortina rally car to be built at Boreham and there was very very little known about that before i started (TBH there's not a lot known now but it has been traced and the little history/race results recorded). Good luck with the search although if i'm honest there are better places to ask than RR, nowt wronge with RR but a ford forum would be the place to ask, possably the granada owners club ?

Now that at least has a press fleet reg, or to be precise a reg that is in the middle of a press fleet run of reg numbers IE \/\/ E405CHK 1987 FORD GRANADA MK3 GHIA USED IN TV'S "MINDER" E429CHK 1987 FORD FIESTA L BLUE USED IN TV'S "MINDER" E494CHK 1987 FORD SIERRA SAPPHIRE COSWORTH BLUE PRESS FLEET VEHICLE

I'd be amazed if that was anything other than a home-built conversion. The line coming up from the wheelarch is the back edge of the welded-up rear door and you can see where the rear handles have been filled in. I also can't understand why Ford would have bulit one, given that they already had the P100 pickup to fill that role, and the Falcon XD in Australia that was essentially the same. It may seem unlikely to import something from Australia but the P100s were South African-built so probably more likely than developing another version based on the Granada. Also bearing in mind that the P100 has a ladder frame chassis with leaf-sprung solid rear axle bolted onto a Cortina, later Sierra, front end. If Ford wanted to do a pickup version of the Granada that could actually carry any weight, they'd have done the same thing as the Granada independant rear suspension would have been pretty useless for the job. The Aussie XD already had a solid rear axle. So if you get a chance, stick your head under the rear and see what it looks like. Normal floor pan and IRS, probably not a prototype.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Hi just been sent a picture of DLS 621Y. I built this car in 1998 out of a 4 door mk2 GL saloon. It was bronze in colour then. The back panel and glass are Toyota Hilux. I welded up the rear doors. Strengthened the back. Plated all the rear tub. Made the tubular bumpers. I resprayed the car in a Volkswagen blue. Something like LLO5 paint code. The car had a number plate transfer to the above number when I sold it to a lorry driver in Ayrshire. I have a full photo album of the work carried out. I think I sold the pickup in 2009.
