Yes, but the lock works with any key (or screwdriver for that matter).

yes the problem occurs when the lock wears - you can use anything. Also you could remove the keys with the engine running.

Yeah, so I saw this the other day just being driven about (not in Brighton). Phoned Crimestoppers but they said it wasn't their problem. Phoned 101 and after 20 minutes of waiting finally got through to somebody, who spent another ten minutes taking my details before asking for the reg/make of car. He asked how long ago I'd seen it and when I told him '30 minutes' he answered "oh, well, it could be anywhere by now." NICE ONE. Also, he seemed utterly perplexed that I had heard about a stolen car via the internet. He just could not get his head round the concept that people who like old cars communicate online. His name was Ian, which probably explains a lot.
Anyway, this hot mutha was travelling North out of Billingshurst on the A29 (just South of Five Oaks) on Wednesday at around 5pm. Hopefully it has long since been recovered and returned to its owner, if that's the case could the OP please update this thread letting us know so next time I swee it tooling about I don't have to sit by the side of the road on the phone to Sussex police for 40 minutes when I could have been in the pub, cheers!

It's this kind of thing that is so frustrating when trying to report something that isn't a 'major' crime these days!
I do hope this gets found as it is hugely encouraging that the car is still in one, usable piece...
