Still mind-boggling over "cave bacon" Great spots as always though. Righteous Wagon, so obviously a sedan with the boot boxed in The design team clearly had a long lunch that day!

Heh. I like the big afterthought estates. What's confusing about cave bacon? Even tectonics need a hearty breakfast!

Okaay. This has been a while coming. Starting off with my last day at work before going to Japan for Christmas. Then over to Japan. I didn't go car hunting in Japan as I was too busy being drunk, snowboarding, or both. This modern with wood panel wrap amused me, though. These were all taken outside an Autobachs, which I finally managed to experience. Cool place, and very different to what we stock where I work, haha. And then moving up to Sapporo where I took even less photos of cars, haha. Mainly small 4x4s and all their awesome little 3 cylinder AWD shoeboxes that they run around in, anyway. This was a little out of place, though. Granted, the Landcruisers seemed out of place, too. That was it for Japan, next post is back home again...

Back home from Japan and I started studying again. On my way to my first day of classes I stopped in to get some fuel. The old guy driving it was right pleased that someone my age was interested in it, haha. One of the guys in my class drives this, the lucky barstool. I always make him drive to the local shopping centre if we nip out for lunch, as it has a great exhaust system on it. There's 4 levels of carparking. Don't see many of these around. Not sure how retro this actually is, but it's VW aircooled power so gotta count, right? The owner of the mini has I think 4 of them, although this one is apparently is his daughters. My phone camera has started to take on the characteristics of a potato, I shall be upgrading soon, I think. This is also where I study, but I haven't worked out who drives it yet. The owner of this is a regular at our store, he brought it in to show us as he's just finished restoring it. I find this rather sexy. Those stripes! Another of the regulars. Doesn't normally drive this, though. Which could be why it broke down in the carpark. Turns out one of the relays had gotten too hot. Barely ever see any of these around. I like that the newer Civics are kind of following this style a bit. Obligatory Large American Truck. I could not for the life of me manage to get a decent shot of this. My phone was being a right dick. The owner of this Capella had come in a week or so before for some parts for it, and my ears perked up when he walked in and mentioned 13B. Then he casually dropped that it was just in some old Capella. Anyway, he came back in and it was on the road at that point so I made sure I followed him outside to take a look. I cleverly forgot to take any photos of the engine bay, even though he popped the hood for me to have a look. Gorgeous car. And the other day a really tidy Minor showed up! It's just come out of hibernation for a few years. And a couple of old utes. One quite clean. The other one not so much. And that's us about up to date for now, I think! Cheers, Matt

Do you mean the Story Bridge? If so I think I know where you mean. I'm actually in Logan, about 15min south of Brisbane. The classiest of locales.

Keep em coming, I still click on this thread when my bookmark lights up. Nice to hear. Its getting harder to slip outside and take photos now, what with the extra responsibility I'm shouldering. Will be overseas again in a few months, it shall be interesting to see what Hong Kong and Seoul have to offer in the way of cool cars.

Hmm. I haven't explored much around the Gateway. I've been meaning to scout it out for some more car shoot locations. I HAVE been inside the Gateway, however. It's pretty cool inside. Would make for an interesting race. Could drag three wide, fighting for the lead/middle before you smash in to the concrete blocks further up the hill.

You need permission (my brother works for council). It's locked up pretty damn tight. Down the driveway the other day: I don't know whether I should post it in here or not, or just mention it. The guys who are down the driveway have just about completed the rwc on their 2000+ Ford Transit dual cab. It has an RB25DET in it now. It goes pretty hard. Looks standard, barely had to modify anything to fit, you just can't see much in the engine bay anymore. And this was at work today, unfortunately I was too damn busy to take a closer look.

Well, it's been a while again. Finding it harder to get outside and check out the cars, now. Not sure if it's the lack of wages so less people to share the load, or just everyone is incapable of sorting out their own stuff. But spending a lot more time answering obvious questions and showing people how to read a book. Anyway, a tiny van! A barge. A tidy wagon taken with potato-vision. Another RX-7 (maybe the same one, I should probably look back at older posts ) And a cool Datto 1200 that belonged to a guy who has gone to a few Mooneyes Meets in Yokohama. I got chatting to him because I recognised his Japanese coinpurse on his keyring, haha. (It was a grenade) That's it for now! Cheers, Matt

Suppose it's about time for an update on this, seeing as not much is happening on the Minor front for a while. An Ovlov. Don't see so many of the older ones around here. Seeing a fair few of the s70's, though. Which I quite like. Yawn. Drove past a 'vertible one today, as well. This one was pretty cool. This is in Hong Kong, and was parked outside what we worked out was a tyre shop. We were trying to work out what was going on, because the car in front of this was jacked up with no wheels, just in the parking space in front of this Trueno (I'm not sure it's actually meant to be a parking spot). As we were puzzling as to why it had no wheels, some guys rolled some fresh wheels across the road and started buttoning them back on. There was a tyre shop that was basically a one car garage, and completely chocked full of tyres, so they were doing their swaps on the road. There was also a Ferrari workshop on a hill with the worst entrance driveway I've ever seen someone willing to drive a Ferrari over, but I didn't have my phone on me at that point. The workshop was that full of 'Ferrari Specialist' curse word that the car being worked on was sticking out on to the footpath, haha. C20. The owner seemed pretty pleased that I was interested enough to come out and have a look at it. Ran really sweetly. Like it says on the box. Getting a lot of these on the road again now. Yet another Datsun ute. Not that I'm complaining, mind. P76? Don't really know much about them but saw it had a 76 badge on the back, and the only thing I know of with a name like that is the Rover? Awesome Corolla coupe be about '74 ish? Why can't cars these days have cool vents like this? Seeing a few Sandman's around recently, too. That's it for now!

Well! Seeing as I got all excited and did some work on the Minor, I figure while I'm posting pictures I should fill this in as well! This Pre ier looked a bit worn out! Was pulling out from the bottle-o when I spied this Commer in the street across the road. Did a totally legal maneuver to get a picture of it. First time I've seen on in the flesh. The width of the tracking on the front is hilarious! I think I may have posted this before, but have another picture! The dish on the rear wheels is ridiculous. From memory the tyres are something like 395's. Possibly more, but that sounds familiar. Next time it's in I shall endeavour to get a shot of the wheels. Hey look! It's my favourite Chrysler wagon! On different wheels again! Faaassst? Mach 1 apparently. Maybe. A clean Minor! Had some neat custom touches to it. Like the mesh grill. And that front lip. And a ride height that looks good, without being low! Should have looked at what size those tyres are... Yawn.. But I suppose someone has to like them, right? Not so yawn! Wish I'd gotten a pic of it dropped on its belly, but the guy was kind enough to drop it a bit for me as he was pulling out. The front was a tad lower when parked. And how he drove out of the driveway that most cars bottom out on.. So cool! I love spats! He bounced it up when he was first leaving too. It came off the ground! Not as pink as you'd think. But I was there to get coffee so I wasn't functioning properly at that point so didn't bother getting a better photo! Really getting in to these Merc coupes! Damn you, TurboDieselWeasel! I would like one at some point. The driver of this one was pretty young, actually. Figures, with the license plate, haha. I know this isn't very retro but it sure is outlandish! Cleaaann The owner of this Minor has a few. He seemed to think that this one was more suited to daily duties than the rest, though. Was a little rough, haha. I think the visor is too big, though. But look at that arch gap compared to the other one! Have seen this Zephyr wagon floating around a fair bit recently. Much want. Was up the back of the store when this reversed up to the front doors. Couldn't hear what the customer I was serving was saying. Figured we'd better go have a look. God the things I would do to a Galaxy... And lastly, Jono finally got the Cougar registered (it's now in his owenership, I think there's a better pic of it near the start of this thread), so we took it out for lunch to celebrate. I got to sit in the back seats. Plural. Had to sit sideways, there was no room for legs at all, haha. Was like a noisy, rumbley chaise lounge! Anyway, parked up next to something much larger and wider but still American. Chevy something, C20 maybe? It was at work a week or so later, too. Has a push button start not in the cabin! Phew! That was a lot of work! Hopefully I'll be more on top of this more as I'm working on the Minor more so uploading pics, etc. Cheers, Matt

Cool, it's funny that I don't recognise any of these cars. They must stay on the southside, but I still haven't seen them when out driving for work.
As for Autobacs, that's the one next to the Wangan line. Been there quite a few times myself and usually the garage underneath it is filled with interesting stuff getting serviced etc.

Yeah, it was a cool place for sure. Not many cars up on the hoists when we were there, though.

The difference between those two Minors arch gaps is probably down to the rear arches more than anything, the wheel opening changed with either newer or older having larger wheel openings. I can't remember if the wheel opening got bigger during production or smaller, but it definitely changed. Makes a huge difference too when you've got the right wheel and tyre combo.

Hmm thanks for that info. Was not aware that they were different, but I guess it makes sense. I got the number of a guy the other day who has a whole bunch of spare panels so might take a look and compare the different arches while I'm at it. But if I replace the rear arches and the front end I won't have matching bronze panels with history! D: Decisions!
