Reluctantly I have decided to sell Cookie, an MX5 I bought about 8 months ago. I originally intended to use him as a donor car, then that became unnecessary so I used him as a fun run about. Unfortunately I have now come to the conclusion that running two cars and building a third is too much to ask of my limited workshop time, so it is time for a sale.
First off a bit of a warning: this car is far from in immaculate condition, which given the age and the mileage (172870) is not surprising. The body work is pretty dire and the interior is tatty. However until the clutch went I drove it semi-regularly (including a Bristol-Reading commute of about 80 miles) and it never missed a beat.
The facts:
As can be seen it needs some work to get it together (just brakes, an earth strap and the clutch really) but I honestly think it would make someone a nice little project. I have had significant fun driving this, it never fails to put a smile on my face.
Collection would be from close to junction 19 of the M5 (south Bristol). If you are interested please contact me on here.

The facts:
- The car has been lowered and sits on raceland coil overs. I was going to raise it a bit, but once I drove it for a bit I found the height to actually be hilarious.
- Fitted with a short ratio viscous LSD from a 1.6 Mk 1 Eunos. This shortens the ratios meaning that acceleration is better than most 1.6 cars, but the speedo over reads slightly.
- Has 15" wheels from a Mk3 MR2, they are pretty light and (I think) suit the car well.
- Loud exhaust. I have installed a mid-box to quieten it down some, but it is still loud. It can be supplied with the straight through pipe to make it deafening again if so wished.
- The clutch spigot bearing has gone and is noisy. Car comes with a new exedy clutch and spigot bearing that I never got around to installing.
- Car has tax until July and MOT until late September 14. There were ten advisory items - the front and rear brakes need renewing (items 1, 2, 3 and 7). Needs a new rear earth strap (item 8), item 4 was a slight exhaust blow, item 5 the back box fouling the towing eye, item 9 "vehicle very low", and item 10 a slight weep from the steering rack.
- Comes with tyre air compressor, car cover and a bottle of hood waterproofing spray.
