Hi Guys, been a member for yonks, but haven't really posted since my Fiesta got sold. Well, a friend I introduced to the site managed to get me back on here, and convinced me to get a build thread up for the Ibiza. (Its W reg, so thats 99-00 right?) Anyway, picture heavy thread, 130 to be precise (click for Hi-res), here goes:
Bought the shed in March 2012 to replace the Arosa Sport I'd written off after 2 months ownership.
It was a bog standard £750 sh*tter that was intended to be a stop-gap until I could get decent insurance on something cool when I turned 21, oh how naive I was. Nevertheless, thinking it was a stopgap or not, I still decided it would be a good idea to make this a tidy-ish motor.
In come the cheap mods Clear indicators to start, followed by dewipering (the old wiper motor was knackered anyway)
Realising the boot light was terrible, I wired in an LED strip light to the parcel shelf, it was bright
Oh, I also bought coilovers.
Well that was silly. Turns out the geometry being ballsed and the wheels being high offset, the struts chewed the sidewalls like a good'un, so they came off until I could source spacers.
In the meantime, I had a play with some tinting spray
Worked well I thought. Found some bbq paint in the garage, so took to the badge
This is how it sat for some time, went to a few shows and what not, but was generally dormant for a while.
Skip forward to my new address and this happens
A*se.
Double A*se.
Tripl- You get the idea.
To be fair, the steelies were only on the car as I'd just bought some new mg hairpins, but the tyres were too fat, so I wanted to sell the 3-spokes to fund them. Got these steelies for free to roll around on for the time being.
More shows, more stickers
The Get Low one fell off pretty sharpish, but the racecar sticker stands to this day
Went against the grain and managed to fit a Headunit even though the Halfords systems reckon it can't be done
A*se. (Haven't we been here before?)
Merry Christmas 2k12
Say hello to the dodgiest sub-box you ever saw.
Also to the Hairpins. Black on one side, silver on the other, it was an interesting look
I then turned into a huge chav. Tbf the white balance on the iphone is curse word so the lights aren't anywhere near as blue in real life
Lol I wish. I just had to but the car on the now flat steelies as I did this:
Swaps plus cash my way for these badboys
and then a mishap with a pothole on a dropped kerb
A*se. (In case you were wondering, I'm a terrible driver.)
Psy blew up in popularity, this seemed appropriate. It lasted all of 10 miles before the key ring snapped.
And then, straight outta nowhere!
Boom sexy wheels!
Boom sexy zipties!
Boom sexy stickers!
Things were on the up again
Then the MoT came. Well, almost, had to delay for a week so I could raise it for the rollers
good lord.
Anyway, go to the test, car is fine, except for "a small bit of rust, just needs a small plate welding in and you'll be fine"
Okay, we can work with that
Rust. Wat are you doing?
Rust, stahp!
Yeah it was a pretty harsh blow. But we soldiered on
I need to thank the boys at Thor Racing for that. I was doing a voluntary placement with them, they helped me out loads with this.
So yeah, with the new MoT, I decided I was going to take the car in a slightly different direction
Thats a mugen splitter from an eg civic, can you guess what my thinking was? However the fit wasn't easy, so that sat dormant for a while. I just made the most of what I had at the time. The car was lowered, cleaned, and a bunch of us went out for photos
And so winter decided to make an appearance in mid march
Interesting.
Number plate fell off.
Had some badass stickers custom made
Little n Large
#notlow
Finally some changes happened, this time in the form of spacers
Had a house viewing, spotted a boggo 1.4, had to do a before and after
Started regularly turning up to the weekly meet at the local sainsbury's
They get big in summer.
Finally painted the rear badge
Fitted foglights, though couldn't be a*sed with wiring in a switch for them, so I instead wired them to the indicators, and had the indicators as sidelights. An interesting setup but it works and looks pretty cool
Wound the coilies down a little more
Yeah.
Never mind, roll on inters
And now into the new place
more lowering occurred
then got the boot build professionally re-built
and then this happened
Bang goes the clutch pedal.
Looks like its not the first time either. Got that replaced and we were back on the road
Sort of. The re-installed pedal box meant the brake pedal didn't return fully, leaving the brake lights on without me knowing.
My mum started moving out of her place, so I couldn't use the garage as a dumping ground any more, it was now or never with the splitter
So plastic welding didn't work
Zipties, ATTACK!
I was starting to really like the look of the car.
Damn.
Yeah the tracking was a little out.
Nevermind, all is well with new, fat tyres
Oh for gods sake.
Sod ya, Zipties.
Back and lower than ever.
Sod ya, Zipties
Oh god what have I started
Uh huh. That works
Problem Officer?
Plenty of room
I don't think I should have done that.
More cleaning, why not.
More little n large, why not.
More zipties, why not. Ohshi-
LED Plate lights because chav
Professional photos because scene
Autumn.
Milk.
Glued itself to the downpipe, stank for days.
Merry Christmas 2k13
Mad lows bro
Friends being funny for my birthday
Driveway at the new place.
Looking back, all this game is really is Kids Stuff.
So yeah, there you have it. There are lots of bits missing, and no doubt some of it doesn't make sense chronologically, but hey, thats how these things go. The car is off the road now after passing this years MoT on saturday, I have a new toy to allow me to realise my plans with the Ibiza.
Do your worst
