I've had a cable driven rev counter converted to electronic (RVC) which is supposed to work with electronic ignition. Having wired it in according to the suppliers instructions the rev counter didn't work. I sent it back as faulty but the supplier has said it is working OK and will (if I pay for it) send me a memory stick showing it working. I have reconnected the unit and it still will not work. The supplier can offer no suggestions as to what might be wrong.
The connections made are power to one terminal, and another connection to the - ive side of the coil (car is negative earth). There is an earth to the case of the rev counter. With a meter I've proved the connections are all OK.
I do not know what type of electronic ignition I have but it is all hidden in the distributor with no external control unit.
Can anyone suggest a possible solution please. (I am considering reverting to points to see if that works!)
