^^^ Hey don't apologise, the more detail the better, certainly from where I'm sitting!
I bet it sounds great with those cherry-bombs, and you've definitely got the "stance" (God I hate that word) sorted.
The world's your oyster with the interior - I was thinking 80's multi-adjustable recaros, but the more I think about it, you could make just about anything look fantastic in here, although I'd steer clear of the "stripped out" racer look, but I've a feeling that's not on the cards?!
Kudos for tackling the electrics on a 70's Lotus without professional help, I can feel my wallet emptying just imagining what an ordeal that must've been.
Are you going to make us beg for info on your other projects? Please?!
It's mad that you've built pretty much the coolest thing on four wheels for a fraction of the price of a newish supermini. Just about sums up everything that's great about this forum.
Excuse me going on, but I really do love this car.

Oh yesh... I think there's every chance you've nailed it there.
I know it sounds daft, but somehow black leather just wouldn't cut it, get that sewing machine out! You have pm.
edit - you mention basic principles..... yeah right, basic principles like air suspension, and raised turrets...... on top of everything else....!

The middle piece (in the photos above) is for the headling, the vinyl will go on the sides of the chairs and the velour is for the central panels, the door panels will have the vinyl and I'm thinking some sort of rose wood veneer. All this however is for the next 6 months, a busy winter ahead! Never picked up a sewing machine before in my life but my first attemps are seem to be promising.

Promising would seem to be an understatement. I've seen "professional" re-trims that aren't that straight!

First ever picture outside my drive. Everything system except the cooling seems to be working, she's just over heating sitting between 90 and 140 so around 110 which is freaking me out a little, would prefer to see the gauge at 90 before I really push it. Brakes are average, even though I bled them this morning, they are gunna need adjusting, pedal is very low. I have to say on it's maiden run the onlookers are either puzzled or smiling, had my first thumbs up so that was nice. I felt like I was hoovering up the road, twigs, paper, ants, flees. The Panther has begun to purr...

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... you've 100% nailed it. Fantastic. My 72 year old Dad has no interest in cars, computers or forums. Everytime I speak to him he asks about "Charlies Lotus".
I've only ever seen those rims on an MX5 before - they just look so right on the Lotus. Would you consider faired in lights? 924 GTS style? Not saying pop-ups aren't cool, just a thought.

Love this thing still and great to see it out prowling the streets On the temperature issue, are you sure its not just the gauge reading a bit hot? 110 doesn't sound very fun to me :/ Keep up the good work! Looking forward to seeing the interior updates too

Cheers guys. Right lets try to work this cooling issye out, let me explain. Ok, so I've been out in her twice now and the temp gauge is reading after about 20 minutes 110 and even creeping up. So I pull her back into my drive and check the cooling pipes, the top rad pipe (which goes to the themostat on the block) is roasting hot and the bottom pipe is cool, can easily put my hand on it. So I turn the engine off and all of a sudden the bottom pipe gets really hot, I take once the engine is off the coolant flows back into the expansion tank? Could it be that the heater matrix is blocked (air lock) I think that needs investigation? Appreciate the uplifting comments chaps, always helps, thanks Charlie.

Not sure that "purr" accurately describes a Lotus with a pair of cherry bombs hanging out of the back of it!

I can't beleive someone is suggesting removing pop up lights.
Pop up lights are the coolest thing ever. There is no argument - any car with pop ups is better than one without.

It does feel super sweet to actually start driving it, although I'd feel better once the overheating issue is sorted, I think I'm onto ot though, something to do with the heater matrix. I will have this sorted before Ultimate Stance, so hope to see some of you there, should be a ball!

Respect for tackling upholstery yourself. It's a skill few petrol-heads even consider attempting.

Are you confident the water pump is doing it's job properly? The 'stat is opening Ok By the sound of it or the top hose wouldn't be getting hot. Unless the rad is super efficient, the bottom hose should be pretty hot as well. Rad or block seriously silted? What happens when the heater's turned on? It won't be a blocked heater matrix, if you want to be sure, just bypass the heater.
