At last, a programme about restoring cars I can really enjoy.
Actually gave me "that feel good feeling". No cheese (well, not excessive), no Bullplop, no stupid sales 'patter'. If the rest of the series follows suit I'll be a happy man!
That little 'out take' at the end really made me chuckle and showed it's honesty for me.
And as for that Facebook post about wheelerwankers, well, Brewer can suck my balls!

Lacked in the restoration side of things for me, the program was interesting in total though.

I really rather enjoyed that What's even weirder is I just sat and actually watched it with the waff (after Antiques Roadshow finished, obviously *cough*) and she enjoyed it too I know she's a rare beast and all that, but the missus sharing in a TV car show? What the actual... Think Glenister is a compelling presenter and seems to have plenty of enthusiasm and appreciation for the subject, if not the same level of outright knowledge. Not sure about his mechanic fella, never heard of him and he hardly featured, hard to tell what sort of quality he's at but the car undeniably turned out superb-looking and sounding. Could have done with more "How To" and less "I was a car-nicking scally back in the day" stories, but

I would have liked more of the resto stuff but at the end of the day its got to get viewers and got to be digestable by non car lovers i suppose . Maybe a bit more of the car and i agree with less of the thieving police stuff . Best programme for a while thats UK based .

Was decent, would love to know where you can get a 2dr mk1 she'll for £500 though, which is what he said it would be if it wasn't a Mexico! :/

Hi, Good show. I can remember the Harris family in the early 70s putting American V8s into Mk1 and Mk2 Zephyrs and Zodiacs. It was not as common then as it is now.

Quite surprised as I was spoken to like a car fan, not like everything else which speaks to me like a spotty oik or a company car m3 driver..... Would like to see it with more restoration - they should do a 3 hr special with all the resto added - It all must surely of been filmed?

I really enjoyed it as well. I think I preferred it to wheeler dealers because it cut out the cheese a bit.
Glenister was a great choice as presenter. He's not trying to pretend he knows what he's on about but he comes across as enthusiastic and like he's having a great time.
Think they struck a great balance between outright entertainment and something that enthuisiasts can enjoy. Hope the rest of the series continues as well.

Pretty good I thought. The Harris' cars are always good to see. Like others I prefer the level of tech input on WD but it was very watchable and in no way irritating.

I'm watching it now and it's just got to the part where she's driving him to a car meeting (adverts right now...). Gotta say I'm enjoying it. They're giving enough restoration stuff to spark interest in those who aren't into that sort of thing and showing a glimpse of what it's like to be involved with the social side of cars which many don't understand. Simply a good watch.

I suspected the orange car they kept showing was their finished car, I would have rather seen it after the resto, I like surprises! Other than that, good watch, really enjoyed it. Loving the Harris' green Escort used in the drag race!

You're going to hate me for this, but I reckon the best of the bunch is Wheeler Dealers. Sure, Mike Brewer is a touch excitable, but I reckon is getting better with age - the workshop bits are genuinely interesting and seem more in depth every time. I enjoyed For The Love of Cars but very nearly turned it off when the mechanic said that that Mk1 would only be worth £500 if it wasn't a genuine Mexico. I guess they made up for it when they contacted the right people (The Harrises) for the background stuff, it's enough for it to earn a series link at least. Which brings the (ever growing) current list up to include (in order of watchability/enjoyment): Wheeler Dealers Fast 'N' Loud Extreme Car Hoarders For The Love of Cars (based on one episode) Car SOS The Car Chasers Ultimate Wheels The only one I'll actively avoid is the Bernie one. Restoration Garage (starts tonight, I think) looks promising - certainly the 'shop it's based in has a good reputation...they are responsible for this:

I thought it was a good watch, but could have done with a bit more detail over trying to cram so much in? I do wonder if the 'toning down of original plans by going to see the experts' is going to be a weekly thing Also the thing that made the Escort a great rally car was just rack and pinion steering?...
