I need to get to bed. Been a great, and long day. Bought some bits for the truck etc. Nicola and I took a day leave yesterday, and slept over in a cheap hotel last night. She had packed us a great lunch cooler bag and we made a flask of coffee this morning at the hotel. Too often the access to these venues is slow, catering overpriced or too little, as are toilets. What we do is to pre-plan and have what we need in the car, or with us, so the day actually becomes a pleasure. Nicola took these photos, and I hope you guys like them, or at least some of them, feel free to post comments. Everything Hand formed, 4 1/2 years work. Includes an ally hard top. For sale £58k Capri Perana. I spent some money on various bits, including t-shirts, retro Thermos flask for the teardrop and some bits for the impending job of restoring the truck. Couple of new breathers for the valve covers. A can of yellow spray paint, and more importantly.... Zinc spray for the areas where I end up cutting and welding. Also a 500g tin of copper slip grease for the reassembly of the truck and mechanical parts as I go along. Suspect I may need some of it. Nicola made me buy this Sheriff's badge and wear it all day. One of Nicola's finds at Wheels Day today was this retro Thermos flask for £5.00 which she wants in the Teardrop.

Weird . I thought it was a superb day out. Brilliant new location, much better than a desolate bomb crater outside Aldershot. Enough room to breathe now... I ended up with exactly 972 photographs from the day, seems I found rather more to love about the show As an aside, I think I might have been standing about one metre out-of-shot when Grizz's lady was taking one of those excellent pics above. Small world, innit!

Was a great show, again....., still think it's probably the most diverse gathering of cool cars I know of. I think they limited the physical size of the showfield too much. There were loads of seriously quality cars that obviously couldn't fit in and so, were just in the car park. They will rectify that next year I'm sure and let's face it, it's a show organised by volunteers in a hot rod club, for charity; we can't expect perfection.

They are volunteers, and to be honest, for every 100 people who do not go next year, there will be 500 new ones that go. I mentioned on R&S as well, the £5.00 entry you pay, is a pittance compared to most "Shows" If they doubled the entry fee, I suspect as many people will attend, then they could still send £5.00 to charity, and use £5.00 to pay a professional events company to run the logistics on the day with demarcated areas, "security/marshalls" and possibly more toilets, though I never felt desperate for a wee, women have more specific needs than us. My one ex-Marine friend Gus, in the USA always says "Proper Planning Prevents P!ss Poor Performance" This goes for one's own planning and route checks.

Did anyone else see Mike Brewer and Edd China filming a future episode of Wheeler Dealers? Seems they have done up a 50's T Bird.
