I always love every one of your photos Seth, the Hillman looked great too.
All in all we enjoyed the day - even if it was "challenging" at times.

Superb shots Seth, it looks to be a cracking event. I will have to make it down one of these years. I love the Mk5 speedster, inspired (and cheap I imagine)! From your pics, this would be my 'take-home' car. or, perhaps, this instead...

Cheers chaps.
Slammage, I saw you were just in front of me in the line on to the field but then by the time I'd got round to your car you'd disappeared.
I think Dunsfold is a great venue as it is plenty big enough. Just needs a bit more efficient and ordered parking I reckon, and I think it was the Dunsfold bloke at the gate causing the small hold up I encountered on the way in to the site rather than anything to do with the organisers. Smoother flow early on might well have helped as things got busier later. The way in from the South was apparently clear enough all morning?

or, perhaps, this instead... I loved this, although we were all a bit confused by combination of the air ride pressure gauges and the juice switches on the bench seat!

It may have been mentioned elsewhere, but after threats/accusations aimed at SSR concerning the organisation of the show and the traffic problems, this years may have been the last Wheels Day ('in this format' at least, according to their post). Which, judging by the pics and posts, is a crying shame.

Its a Volvo engine with a modded jaguar dizzy so all the modern stuff could be junked ..... It was a good day, despite the faff getting in/out. Will post more pics soon, but a few standouts for now: Anyone know what the engine is? I'm sure I've seen that rocker cover somewhere...

It may have been mentioned elsewhere, but after threats/accusations aimed at SSR concerning the organisation of the show and the traffic problems, this years may have been the last Wheels Day ('in this format' at least, according to their post). Which, judging by the pics and posts, is a crying shame. That would be a shame. I thought the new venue was a massive improvement over the Aldershot one, absolutely night and day. Anyone who's been to Dunsfold for any other event (such as Wings n Wheels) will know that the traffic problems are down to the geography of the place, not the organisation. However, we arrived at just before ten and went more or less straight in, but we came from the south end. I gather if you came in from the Guildford end it was a bit of a 'mare. I have to say, though, the marshalling did seem a bit haphazard at times. We were sent into an overflow car park in our humble modern Fiesta... but so were quite a few cars that should have been in the showground and then it caused havoc as they realised their mistake and tried to get back to the correct place. Also, the queue getting into the actual showground seemed a bit disorganised to the point where some people gave up and just parked their show rides in the grass outside. I was taking photos of some of the cars and one marshal especially seemed to be suffering quite badly from the "hi-viz Hitler" syndrome and was curtly shouting at people as they tried to drive in. One incident flared up when he tried to stop a pair of Renault 5 GTTs getting into the show, citing that they had to move out of the queue because they "were blocking proper cars from getting in". It unsurprisingly got heated at that point, whereupon the marshal told one of the R5 drivers to "just p*** off" and stormed away in a huff... whereupon it got very heated I don't know if the bloke was just a random event-marshal-for-hire firm or what, but I feel he brought it on himself a bit with his attitude and maybe he ought to have applied the "would I talk to a stranger down the pub like this" test to his behaviour. THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE NEGATIVE OR CRITICAL, simply observational! Overall this was one of the best shows I've been to in a long time. The quality of cars was excellent, and personally speaking I experienced no problems with marshalling or staff at all, they were all helpful and polite. For £5 it has to be the best value show in the country, and that includes some free ones and I for one would like to thank all the SSR who gave up their time and efforts to make it happen. I think everyone just needs to be patient and accept that a massive change of venue like this takes some readjustment and ironing-out of teething problems Excellent photos, too. As always. Nice to catch up on what I missed

Is the engine out of a Renault ?
I used to live in Aldershot and walked to the show a few times, there just wasn't anywhere to park if you turned up in a modern car. The whole area ground to a halt. I considerd going this year but having sat in traffic going to the Wings and Wheels show before guessed it might be a bit busy. I hope they can continue, next year I might actually have a car on the road I can take into the show.
