I love it, but I bet it costs the same as an original restored example. So, unless you were planning on using it daily and not just as a sunny weather/fun car, then I don't really see the point. I'd just have the original or an original 964.

Well - personaly I never saw the point in buying automobiles to turn them into immovables But I think the "expensive car world" works different to my approach on cars

Paint it the same colour as Saga's from 'The Bridge' (Bron|Broen)and, yes, it would be my perfect 911. Where do I sign? Having a house it overated anyway.

HA! Funny you mention that. This exact Porker made me look at early 911s in the first place (awesome series btw.!) Agreed. I've never really been a huge fan of the 911. I've always admired them, kinda liked tehm, but never got massively excited about them. That is until I watched The Bridge (as you say, awesome series!) and I suddenly had this massive urge to own a narrow bodied 911. Without the whale tail, without the flared arches....especially in that amazing colour. I even like the impact bumpers on this, although my preference would be to the early (912?) style bumpers in your post. Every single time I watched the series, without fail, I would yell, "WANT" whenever it appeared on screen. So, yes, the one you posted originally is my perfect 911. In Broen Brown please. And if that's not a colour, it is now! Even my GF said she'd happily let me buy one. I wonder how she'd feel if I bought one. In exchange for our house?

It is a bit of rage now, 'downgrading' the looks of 964. Maybe Singer does this even better, but an Autofarm one is nice as well. In the latest Octane there is an article about the pre-impact bumpers 911. Talking about the purest form of 911 and how prices have doubled in the few last years.

Like Mystery Machine, I'm feeling more love for the norrow bodied 911s They'r just more - understated. Subtle. I like that. For the same reasons I don't like the W124 E500 and would prefere a E34 M5 - which is the same reason I'd chose this 911 over any other Understatement! The only thing I'd lose is the air conditioning

Bruce, an early 911's code's just 911, a 912's a 'base spec' version with a tweaked beetle engine. It's exactly what I'd have if I had a rear engined Porsche. I'd be having much too much fun cruising around feeling smug and watching my reflecting in shop windows to care that it had a beetle engine. If anyone pointed out said beetle engine, I'd just keep looking smug until they went away.
Edit: Oh, and yeah, that black one's stunning too, as is Sagas.

Where do I sign? Having a house it overated anyway. I suspect you'll have to live in a really nice house, if you want to swap!

The idea of a 911 has been running around my head for years, but always one of the more modern generations. Lately, I've become more turned on by the older models. I hate the term 'purist', but the older models seem to have the purity of a proper sportscar. They look more alive and involving. Who really needs ceramic brakes or PDK anyway?

Outlaw Porsche. I'd say the top end of this theme is Singer/PS Automobiles, the other end is Magnus Walker and to my mind MW's porkers are to die for! magnuswalker911.blogspot.co.uk/Watch the Urban Outlaw film via the above link, it's good VERY good! And it's Porsche, NOT Porsche-er!

We have a 1970 911 coming in for full resto and 993 engine conversion and a few other upgrades next month some time, so I'll chart the progress of that on the forum if anyone's interested.

Yeah, I love them all. But what would one of these cost? I bet you could buy an original restored non impact bumper 911 for the same price. (If not less).
