OK, so I aquired this a few years ago and it was fun to play on so I didn't do anything with it initially. However, living in my garage has done it no favours and the monitor is now kaput. Everything else works so I'd planned to strip out the original parts to sell leaving just the cabinet. Usually something like this is screaming for the MAME treatment but I had the idea of installing an Xbox 360, flat panel monitor, surround sound system and Xbox steering wheel/pedal controllers for the ultimate driving game console. The addition of a real car seat from something sporty would have been awesome. Now however, I'm moving to Shetland and can't take all my toys with me so I'm posting this here to guage if there's any interest in someone taking this on for the centrepiece of their man cave/games room? It weighs about 500Kg assembled but breaks down into three parts and wouldn't have the monitor so not too bad for transportation. Just looking to give it a good home for a few beer tokens. It would be a shame to have to scrap a piece of arcade history if I can't find someone to take it on before I leave.

I've just been sent details of this by RR member Rysz suggesting it would be amazing to restore and use at Area 52 (and therefore a wider Retro Rides community than in an individuals garage) Possibly, if we can work it out, taking it to events like the Gathering?
If this sounds like the kind of thing you'd like to see it being used for, I'd like to offer to take it on? Please let me know what you think and also what kind of money you'd be looking for?
Many thanks and kind regards,
Bruce.

Hi Bruce. That's just the thing I'd love to see happen! Am I right in thinking A52 is based in Bristol? If so I'm not too far away. I live in Bedwellty, near Blackwwod in Gwent. That's probably about an hour away from you. Maybe if you have any interesting Land Rover stuff lying around we could do a swap as I've just bought one to take to Shetland with me. However, I'd happily donate this free to the community to see it used as you suggest. Cheers, Rick.

Legend. And thank you.
I'll send you a PM with my number and I'm sure we can sort something out? Rysz has already kindly offered to donate and build the computer side of things!
I might see if he can include things like OutRun on there too? That would be incredible! (Many fond memories of driving that Ferrari convertible with the blond at my side to the sounds of Magical Sound Shower)
Thanks again.

Rightyho.
After some great advice from Hirst on Facebook, rather than a dedicated MAME machine, I think that we will be going down the route of building a PC to sit in this with a TFT for a screen replacement.
For controls, I think that a force feedback setup will be needed so an old Logitech wheel, pedals and gearshift setup will be needed to be retro fitted to the cabinet.
Super parts collection time! I think that Freecycle and car boots will be the best place to find the wheel setup and then we shall go from there!
Rysz.

this will be such an amazing addition to A52... Just sucks I'm nearly a 3 hour drive from Bristol! If it's any consolation, Ian is coming from Torquay tonight (2hrs), Ryan is coming from Sheffield (3hrs) and Kev is coming from Abergele (3.5hrs). It's quite usual to have people coming from all over for one of the weekenders. outovisprime, it was great to meet you yesterday and many, MANY thanks for the machine. I think there are a lot of excited people who can't wait to get stuck into this as a project? Thanks also for the tea and the guided tour of the cars etc... Here is a shot of half a ton of arcade machine after being wheeled out into the lane. I'm SO glad I convinced Dave and Tippers to come with me to lend a hand. Between the four of us, we just managed! Getting it into the trailer was fun* and certainly a test of strength! Dave just couldn't resist and only my (boring) sensible head prevented me from driving around the local area with Dave sat in the back like this. It was SO tempting though! Thanks again Rick and I'm sure we'll be posting updates as things progress with it. There's an ever growing group of people offering to help and get involved.
