My google-fu is failing me - trying to find the bolt pattern for a Jag V12, but the only thing I can get, are links to adaptor kits, for several hundred $$$ My plan is to fit a jag-sourced TH400 auto to another engine. They can be found for as little as £40, no electronics, good for 400Bhp out of the box, and adapting a Landy LT230 transfer case to fit is easy But... I need the bolt pattern for the bellhousing to make the adaptor plate. Can anyone point me out to the info I'm after? Or is it simply not published anywhere? Have the two pics I'm using for inspiration as pennance: And the CAD model so far: Still need to improve the model of the engine block, then I can make a start on the *actual* frame design

Belt cover at the rear. Chairchild. L-series?
Sorry I'm no help on the bellhousing, though I'd be VERY surprised if you could get factory drawings of it - you may have to buy one and measure it out...

Spot on Got the engine spare from my old Rover 220SD - target of 300Bhp Getting a tool made at work to accurately measure the PCD of the L series bolt patterns (seems to be 3 PCDs, with one just located at a right angle to two of the others) Nothing else is in-line with anything on the L series bellhousing....

unfortunately - nothing like any of the GM patterns The jag TH400, uses an exclusively jag v12 bolt pattern Just a PITA that GM TH400 trannys go for a silly amount, even though the internals are identical

My bad, I spent ages, a while back looking into jag bellhousings for an aborted project, think the gm pattern is used from bellhousing to gearbox. But could be wrong about that too Ttfn Glenn

I'm afraid so again, lol Bellhousing isn't removable. If it was, my life would be FAR easier! I'd just line up the crank and input with a machined adaptor, and weld plates in to make my own bellhousing

OOoooh... so looks like I may be keeping my eye out for the later spec 6L gearbox! Not only does it mean I've got a better chance of getting the bolt pattern, but I'll have an extra gear

I'd be concentrating on how you're going to get 300hp from a L-series rather than bell housings! Don't get me wrong, great engines and I love them, got a couple I'm building for my own projects but even 180hp can be awkward, think there's a couple knocking on the door of 190/200 but with EGT's through the roof...

guess who built the turbo that got the original 180Bhp (and yes, I'm still keeping the source of the turbine housing a closely guarded secret). I have many tweaks planned for it, to get a reliable 300Bhp I've given up posting most of my things on MG-rover.org, as I just get told I'm "wrong", because it goes against what they've read on forums.... Made the tool for measuring the L series bolt pattern yesterday. The dowel hole needs opening up a smidge before I can use it however

Wow, I love this project! Can't wait for the build thread. Turbo-diesel semi-recumbent motorcycle with automatic transmission! Is this going to be used for land-speed record type runs, or is it for the street? When I was at Adelaide University, one of the final year MechEng projects was a bike powered by an Astra diesel engine, which was intended to break a world land speed record. hopefully for commuting it's not going to be built for several years yet, but that gives me a lot of time to slowly build up the ideal parts needed, rather than just what I've got to hand, like I've had to do on previous projects.... I've still got to finish the jet engine yet! lol
