Another update after a massively wasted day....
I've been trying to find the reason why I have no interior lights or glovebox light, I have what appears to be no power to the door switches or in my case the drivers door switch as this then powers the passenger side, my glovebox light doesn't work neither but the bulb is fine, as far as I'm aware the fuse that fuses these also does the boot courtesy light which now works correctly.
Has anyone had any experience of this before as I'm at a loss as to what it could be??
I did however fit my pass side foglight to smarten the front up again but when I started the car the rubbish cone filter that was fitted had snapped off and was sat in the bowels off the engine bay so I'm now on the needle in the haystack hunt for an airbox.

I managed to get a full day on the car yesterday, I started off by fitting the new air-con belt, to do this you have to remove the front engine mount as this goes through the middle of the belt, simple enough to get off but a royal pain to put back together, only when it was back together did I realise the trusted eBay seller had supplied with a short belt!
If that didn't make me feel bad enough the radiator had decided it didn't like holding water no more! More unexpected expense!
I have started to make headway with my interior lights though, it appears the problem is just corroded connections.
I even managed to source a correct airbox for the car and do a full service, runs and ticks over like a different car now, which is handy as I'm sick of getting no where fast with the car!

I had a productive day on Friday, swapped the last broken spring for a good one and checked the front calipers were all free which thankfully they were. So to spur my enthusiasm/motivation I popped on two original alloys on the front which has helped my mojo massively However, one thing that is still bugging me is that there Is unburnt fuel spitting out the exhaust and I'm unsure as to what would cause this? It's had a full service inc plugs and fuel filter but I still get the same problem? Any ideas what this could be? My engine is this one, unsure of the code

Hello there, your engine is the ABK code (2.0 8v) with 115 hp.

Thankyou. I've been told my 'fuel' out the exhaust is likely to be just condensation, having took a step back and thinking logically it's unlikely fuel will be able to get to the exhaust tip without being burnt off

Well...... I have now got interior lights working from the switch and the door switch, glovebox light working correctly and the rear lights working after soaking all the connections in cheap coke for a week, worked wonders!! I also have illumination for the temp and fuel gauges, good looking bulbs turned out to be bad bulbs! Then re-did the stereo wiring and plumbed the stereo in to make it feel more like a car. Also fitted the radiator and got to temp with the fans working and a steady gauge but I still have the flashing water light to deal with, I've got one last thing to try, cleaning the header tank and making sure the float isn't stuck. More pics very soon once i receive some bits. All been well the car should be on the road at the start of august

Quick question, did you sort the wires to the boot? I have the same problem but not sure whether to tape round the split wires or let some new wiring in using a soldering iron...

Truth be told mate, they weren't my issue. I had lots of corroded connections which was giving me the trouble. I just taped the splits and forgot about them

Pretty much what I'm intending to do. Did you cut the rubber sleeve that covers the wires?

No mate, you can just keep squeezing it back, I undid all the wiring connections in the bootlid to get some extra cable through to repair it.

Well the car is now taxed and insured and put into use as my daily, quite a different experience from my previous (e46). I've got an irritating squeel constantly while driving, fairly sure it's a brake disc dust shield/heat shield for exhaust. Sadly my abs light didn't distinguish itself while travelling, I'm hoping the issue is a bad relay as it was fine till the battery died after I was playing with the abs button. Now I've got the original set of wheels on it's glaringly obvious that sadly the car is lowered at the rear, more unexpected expense then.

After a trouble free 600 miles I thought I'd stick the car in for an mot, expectedly it failed but only things I expected so that was a relief, it did fail on emissions which were an issue for its last test but I don't know how they cured it. Has anyone got any suggestions as to what the cause of the high emissions could be? Here's what the fail sheet says I decided to stick with the clear indicators at the front and managed to get a new ashtray for a decent price along with a tow eye cover for the front so now the car looks much more like it belongs rather waiting to be weighed in!! My next things to sort are the obvious fails but they're relatively simple and then adjust the doors after I've seen a very good pic that explains so much more than a write up ever could. Then I'm desperately seeking a new headlining and glass sunroof if someone knows where there any?? Lately I have started to ask myself, where will it end, and what's the point?

Working my way through the fail sheet and I'm trying to figure out the lack of horn, fuse is fine and it's connected at the horn, steering wheel contacts are clean also. I've been told there's a relay for the horn but I think mine is missing, my wipers only work constantly too so I'm wondering if that's missing also. Where's a good place to get relays from and are they job specific or will a generic relay work for different functions? Here's my fusebox if anyone can help me and tell me if I'm missing other things also?

I'd been surprised every time I touched the paint it really was in good condition and came up really well. Looks a million times better than when I dragged it out from being laid up and looks like another retro saved that was destined for the crusher.

Some days you just need to take a grinder to an inanimate object, just to make your day a tiny bit better!!

Cheers, I'm quite impressed at how it's come up with a polish. Sadly there's still jobs to do that stop it being a minter (headlining, sunroof) but it's more than a nice place to be at the minute.
I'm just stuck at how to value it, eBay prices go from silly to crazy!
