Hi all, Thought I would start a thread about my second Micra. This is my last one bought for £175, rusty as and with a knackered clutch. Sorted it all out cleaned it up and it was a good fun little car. Sold it on after a while as it wasn't getting used. So I picked this up yesterday. 1 months tax and test £200 1.3 LX it goes well mutch better than the 1.0. Needs a good service and welding as they all do. Only to the rear sills as they haven't been touched before and one hell of a good clean and polish. Anyway some photos. A few areas that need attention. Laquer peel on the n/s rear quarter, dint in boot lip and the usual door handles locks windows etc that need a bit of fettling. Oh yeah and this. Lovely cracked manifold. Plans are to tidy it up get a new ticket and either use and abuse it or move it on. I enjoy working on these little motors and I'm actually looking forward to breaking out the weldy stick again.

Right first problems tackled this morning. The brake warning light was on so I checked and adjusted the handbrake and cleaned the switch, this didn't cure it so I bled the brakes through with ATE super blue racing fluid (all I had to hand) and it's cured the problem.
So then I moved on to flushing and replacing the coolant which I have done, will probably have to have another go at bleeding the system as I didn't have time to wait for the fan to kick in, but it will be better than before.
How long should the fan take to kick in?
Topped up the oil as this was pretty empty, not registering on the dip. Will get a full change when I have the filters.
Didn't manage to start on the manifold as I didn't have a deep enough 6 sided 12mm socket and want to give the nuts and studs there best chance at coming off.
Bit of welding some new exhaust bits and a couple of part worn tyres should see it through another year or two!

Looks like good cheap motoring, just a cheap run around or are you planning any fun stuff with it?

Sierra - here we go again! He has an illness, it's not his fault.

Would love to slam it on banded steels make up my own exhaust stick a couple of bucket seats in and paint it with a roller matte cream with a black roof!
Depends if my mini sells then I can justify a fun car, if not it'll be a fix up job and move on for a few quid profit!

Right not really done anything on this so it's still sat on my mates drive getting crapped on by birds and gathering dust. I have moved house so all my time has been spent in that recently.
I have however decided what I'm going to do with it. It's going to get put back on the road and used for the commute through winter to save some money on petrol as I'm only getting 24mpg in the mondeo.
I have bought a decent manifold, some h4 connectors to sort the lights out, a boss to mount my momo wheel and I plan on using the rc40 waiting for my mini to make a bit of noise. I'm also going to chop the springs or lower it on Suzuki alto springs and corsa b rear shocks.
Then I will probably paint it matte baby blue and go for some orange wheels (gulf colours basically)
Watch this space.

Set about a bit of work on this for a couple of hours this afternoon before being promised to do something with the missus (they don't get it lol), grabbing 5 mins to update while i wait in the gym cafe for her to do her hair So i set off with the intention of swapping out the steering wheel for Momo off of my old MX5, all was going well untill i didnt have the correct size torx security bit to get the airbag off, anyone have any ides? i think it may be a T50 or T60? biggest i have is a T40, so i sidelined that project till next weekend, when I can get hold of a new bit. So the I moved on to the non functioning pax side headlight. First off I replace the H4 connector as these usually corrode and cause faulty lights, this didn't work! So I roped my mate in (who knows less about cars than me to track down the problem. So all fuses out and cleaned up.....nothing, right then maybe it's the switch? Remove stalk open it up, drop all over the drive and spend 10mins searching for all the little connectors, cleaned and put back together.....nothing! This is getting annoying now, fitted everything back together and wired up the battery still not working.....scratching my head I stood there and poked bits with my screwdriver in a fashion of ruling things out, not that...not that....not that...and so on until, I poke on of the fuses again and flicker the light came on hahaha success! Only took 11/2 hours and a little poke with a screwdriver fixed it, at least we fixed it before I had to down tools. More next weekend hopefully with some pretty pictures.

Today I won a modified standard manifold and decat off eBaY.
Originally from a guy on the micra sport forum who mods them to be better flowig and them smashes the insides of the first cat out to create a decat.
Apparently this when fitted to the sellers car made it "spit flames" which I can only hope is true lol.
Few pics later when I can get a decent connection. can't wait for it to turn up so I can get it fitted.

Pics of the manifold next to a standard so you can see how much it's been opened up. Think I have most of the bits now to get this sorted. Just have to find the time. Off on holiday this weekend and got a mental week at work next week so may be a couple of weeks before I get the chance to get it sort unfortunately!
