Been meaning to do this for a while... Brought this puppy when I was 16, it sat in the garage for 6 months while I waited for my 17th and it is now my daily driver. We got it from my dads school mate's son and it had been in their family for 30 years, I think. So we knew the history was pretty good. I wasn't perfect when I got it, but it loved it. Anyway enough of me typing... 3 years more of stuff to come...

I love these little things, such pretty little cars, call me odd but they have got to be my favourite Triumph. Yours looks lovely too, what are the plans?

Thanks for the comments, I am definitely not getting rid of it anytime soon. These photos are from 3 years ago and I've done quite a lot to her, major surgery and little things. Most of which I have photographed so I will be posting! In recent months I have been noticing the car's lack in power... so I got myself a late 1500 spitty engine, j-type and diff. So there will be some pretty major work coming up. I'm keeping her as 'Triumph' as possible, using parts from spits and vitesses ect to create my version of 1500 herald ... if that makes sense. I may post some stuff up later tonight.

Bit of a shameful post here, err... umm... ran out of fuel 200 meters from the petrol station! It was the hills fault, I would have made it if it wasn't there. Took a picture just before it started to splutter, In the same day I had my first AA call out...! Diving home from collage and in a split second the car started to vibrate and shake horribly, it was like someone pushed the 'self destruct button' (that all BL cars have somewhere) ... no but seriously I started to write my will. It felt like the wheels weren't on. Turns out that the bolt attaching the rear right radius arm to the chassis had slowly been working loose causing my right rear to splay out. The weird thing was that it was a lot of sudden vibration and nothing before that to indicate anything was wrong. My inexperience probably played a part. only a 45 minute call out time. This was my tyre after. I guess my wheel hadn't been pointing in the right direction for a while. Weirdly the other side of the tyre was fine, just a small part was bald. Could have been why I didn't notice it. This Herald will return...

Ooo not fun. At least it brought that tyre to your attention though, the Police wouldn't have look too kindly on that in a roadside check, and just think if you'd had to barke hard on a left hand bend. Any damage to the body work or suspension?

No damage at all. The AA guy just tightened up the bolt to get me home. I replaced the bolt for a nyloc and job done! Thank god.

Right its been a while! I've been working, ill, working and ill, on holiday and have my sisters wedding coming up... and not much room for posting. Anyway, This was the fist bit of major work that me and dad did, the roof was leaking and we had been noticing a distinct brown line creeping out from behind the window rubbers. Crunch, crunch... hmm Love the herald, the only difference between the saloon and convertible is extra chassis strength, antiburst door catches and the shape of the rear tub! I think I still prefer the hard top. More to come...

After that we got the area primed and painted. Looks pretty good eh?... Well the colour match, wasn't a very good one. That was actually purple! Probably exaggerated by the age of the paint... but that ain't royal blue. This herald will return...

Nice looking Herald, looks quite smart in that colour! Hopefully there's no rust lurking underneath my roof, I dread to look if I'm honest, costing me far too much money & time as it is

Love the colour, its probably one of my favourite for heralds. Are you going to keep it standard? There aren't many of them around.

Love the colour, its probably one of my favourite for heralds. Are you going to keep it standard? There aren't many of them around. Thanks I've actually just had some bodywork sorted out, and it should be back from the paint-shop any day now. Had a full respray in the original colour, should look great! As for modifying, I've fitted a smaller wheel just as it's more fun to drive with, and I'm collecting some suspension parts - going to do a full overhaul and subtle lowering over some banded steels over winter. Although I'll be banding the more common style wheels, and keeping a standard early set with the car (shows, originality etc..). That's it though, I want it easily returnable to stock, as you say it's quite a rare model now! When (if you still are) are you planning on dropping the 1500 in yours? That'd make a great little daily driver! I'd love to get myself a little more power, but I've heard it just ruins the MK1 chassis - so maybe not! I've bookmarked this anyway, will be good to see it develop
