So following on from the discussions of a lack of show threads of late, thought I’d add another one to the rapidly growing list.
The Butty Run, in case anyone fancies coming along next time, is a monthly meet at the Long Itchington diner (near Southam, Warks.).
It’s normally the first Sunday of the month and runs all year. Except this month it was the second Sunday because of Billing – best thing to do is to join the Facebook group as date changes are on there.
At its heart it’s a Rod & Custom show, but it’s slowly grown to include anything interesting really – be it a bike engine Fiat Cinquecento, or a mint Mk2 Jag. Basically everyone meets at the diner for breakfast and chats cars – its a very nice way to kick off a Sunday, especially a lazy one!
Normally me and Lauren don’t get there till about 10am, at which point the wait for breakfast can be up to an hour – its only a small diner! So having woken up unreasonably early for no good reason we got there early for once and drank coffee whilst watching everyone drive in. The mix of stuff is great, very Retro Rides I guess, and everyone’s up for a chat – well worth getting hoods popped as the most interesting bits tend to be under the skin at this meet I’ve found!
With the show scene in full swing, it wasn’t as busy as normal, but still some interesting stuff to have a poke around, think I’d have taken the Chevy Nomad for cruise this time – it’s absolutely beautiful, can’t begin to imagine home much work went into it!
Some days there’s a drive out/cruise at about 11 to a local show, but not so much this weekend, so we hopped in the Capri for a cruise around Leicestershire – if you want a really nice slice of cake whilst steam engines go by, pop into the cafe at Quorn Station on the Great Central Railway
Anyway, enough jabber, have some photos.
