It has take a little time to think about this but I figured it is best to sell my forlorn 205 GTi. It shall come with 12 Months MOT and IIRC it has a low amount of owners (around 4 or 5 I think) and plenty of service history with a FPSH up to around 120k (it was family owned for a very long time).
What can I tell you about it? Upon buying it around 5 years ago it underwent a mini mechanical refurbishment including the suspension, brakes, and sundries. I originally planned to rally this (being a non-sunroof shell with manual windows but it simply became a track toy. In recent times it has not really moved, only having done around 1000 miles last year.
Anyway, enough! Below is a description depicting the work undertaken on the car and the general condition:
Engine:
-Stock 1.6 GTi engine with:
-Cone filter with K&N Relocation kit (stock airbox comes with the car)
-Baker BM Oil filler and oil filler car silicon hoses with new genuine Pug coolant hoses in places
-Replacement sump fitted last year (this car does not leak any oil)
-New refurbished distributor
-Cambelt changed 3,000 miles ago as part of a kit along with the water pump
-Replacement Radiator
-New battery
-Baker BM Group N Hard Rubber bushes
-Pug Racing Group N adjustable gear rods
-Genuine Peugeot driveshaft seals
-Refurbished driveshafts fitted
Suspension:
-Compbrake coilover bodies with Bilstein 'Gravel' Inserts on 160lb springs (180 springs come with the car)
-Spherical top mounts
-Poly bushes in front arms with new ARB Drop links
-Group A rear beam mounts courtesy of Baker BM
-Bilstein Group N rear dampers
-Refurbished rear beam including new bearings, seals etc.
-Fresh Toyo Tyres all round.
Brakes:
-PugRacing/HEL stainless braided hoses with stainless fittings (these are still very clean)
-Mintex M1144 pads (these have great bite from cold and the car has felt fine with these pads) on stock Brembo vented discs
As a result the car is a joy to drive around, and it always brings a smile to my face when driving it, not having the 'widowmaker' antics from the rear, but a controllable and playful one.
Now for the rest and some of the ugly. The interior is in good shape for a 1.6 interior, bar a slight amount of damage on the lower bolster (see the pics). Then there is the bodywork. Whilst the car is very sound and structurally great most of the panels have defects, be it a slight amount of bubbling from trapped moisture in the front wings (only noticeable when very close up), the various dents and scratches it has accrued over the years (rear quarter and front door), and with the paint on the roof being slightly patchy along with the rear tailgate. That is before I get to the car having a gunmetal grey bonnet.
That said, it does polish quite well and looks great not quite so close up. With a fresh paintjob it would transform the car, and go with the interior and other goodies it has. Of course you could roll in it as is .
Anyway, some pics:
