Sadly I'm putting my Civic up for sale as I need to pay my dad back some money and i want to change my wife's car too.
Believed to be the 2nd oldest Civic on the road in the country, the car is a very early 1974 model having a number of features that only 73/74 cars had like vents in the B post and a single steering column stalk.
Thought to have been Honda dealers Eddy Grimsteads, in Newbury Park, showroom demonstrator for the first 2 years before being bought by the first owner in 1976 as a company car, in 1980 he bought it from his own company and used it himself privately as a second car until 1992 when I believed he died and his wife took over the car, His wife rarely used the car as she had a place in Spain and only used it when visiting the UK again. In 2010 she passed the car to her nephew to give to his daughter as a first car but she never used it. I bought it last year from her nephew and lavished lots of love and attention on it since.
It's comes with an amazing amount of service history and paperwork from new, I have receipts for everything, It drives really well and it's surprisingly nippy for a 1200cc car.
I've had the front wings repaired in my ownership and now the bodywork looks amazing, everything works even down to the original radio and it even still has the plastic on the door cards, The vinyl roof is immaculate and the fold back roof works perfectly and is great fun to drive in the sun! It's done 80000 miles but since 1986 it's only done 14000 miles, It's recently had a new clutch fitted, new gearbox oil, coil, cambelt, full service, leads etc all fitted and it drives spot on now.
A couple of weeks ago it made a 300 mile drive to Coventry and back for a photoshoot for Classics Monthly magazine which will be available in a few months time.
It is a 40 year old car now so there are a few marks and it has a few scabs here and there which are only noticeable as it's white, the mileometer has stopped working in the last 200 miles but the speedo works so I don't think it's much to worry about, The floor pan is like new, completely mint and it's unbelievably never been welded or even needs any that i know off! (unheard off for those early Civics)
It comes with tax until the end of July and MOT until February 2015.
I'm looking for around £3250 ono for it and I'm in Ipswich, Suffolk. PM more for my number if your interested. Thanks
