For sale; my 1993 Suzuki swift gti.
Bought last may,and has undergone a lot of work over the last year..
Has loads of history ,and genuine manuals (no service history,but many recepts over the years).
2 original keys.
I originally bought this from a lad in Scotland,and its fair to say it was shocking,i should have left it there,but as many will know ,these rarely come up for sale....
So the following work has been done;
New inner and outer sills (taken from a ford sierra/same shape) ,cut down and welded in,painted over,and then fully wax oiled inside/underneath....that should slow the rust down for a while!!
Inside floor pan painted hammerite white,so that's both sides covered.
Bodykit was taken off,cleaned,new plastic poppers ,and re-fitted properly ,including the bumpers/fog lights and indicators.
New uprated discs were fitted when I bought the car,but the brakes were terrible too...so ive fitted green stuff pads,and braided lines all round....calipers were completely stripped,and rebuilt/painted...it now stops brilliantly.
New windscreen fitted (original old one was de-laminating)
Alloys were painted professionally,and good used part worn tyres were fitted, and 16 new wheel studs ...handles great!!
Dampers were painted yellow,and springs powder coated red...all wheel arches returned to original white.
New c.v boots, and everything tightened and greased up front.
Fuel tank removed, cleaned, wax-oiled ,and given new stainless bolts upon re-fitting.
Engine bay was treated to a fresh respray,and although not perfect,is now certainly better.
Interior was also wrong with black baleno seats up front,there did not match the grey rears,so I bought a "rare Suzuki badged interior taken from a mk2,not mk3 as it should be,but it blends in ok,and looks good...rest of the interior is very good considering its age!.Every works as it should.
Then earlier this year,the oil pump went,and rattled to a stop...once my engine was stripped,it was found to have a slightly warped crank (told by engineering shop) ,so I sourced a spare engine...but this too had knackered main shells.. so I had the crank re-grounded,new mains,and new piston shells....new oil pump included,that cost £290 for that lot...Piston and rings were ok,and new was not needed.
My head was used,as it was deemed in better condition,and so new valve stem seals,and valves re-seated.. new head gasket set used (FAI type).Hydraulic lifters were cleaned and re-fitted.
Along with new water-pump, timing belt kit, aux belt,new 3 piece clutch,air /oil filters ,leads ,plugs,rotor cap/arm and new anti-freeze/oil/gearbox oil, it now runs superbly!
I've cleaned the entire engine, cleaned alternator, painted starter motor, and inlet housing, using new bolts in places, some stainless even.
Engine alone owes me well over £600!!
The exhaust manifold has been heat-wraped,as it was rusty.Full 2 1/2 inch (cat included)stainless all the way ,including recent replacement rear box,taken from a celica... sounds nice,but not loud.
New "proper type" varta battery.
I've yet to fit a new o/s bottom arm (this coming weekend) and a manifold gasket ,as its blowing slightly,after that,everything is near damn good for a 22 year old car..
Now the bad points,and there aren't many now;
Slightly bubbling rear wheel arch (due to me driving it through the winter months
And bubbling along the top of the windscreen (common swift place).
Its not perfect,its a 22 year old Suzuki,thats seen a handful of boy racers,and 22 british winter,but ive bought it back to life with plenty of elbow grease,sweat and tears!!
Apart from that,it starts first time,goes well (really well ).and stops better now than it would have when it was new!!..
Now my starting price is £1500... I want a lot more, this car owes me over £2k,never mind the hours ive put into it, and a black one on here just finished for £1550 ,(probably without a engine rebuild),so please no silly offers...I don't want to swap for your x-box, and wait for your dole money to clear...jog on....this car is rare, and if be, i'm in no rush to sell...ill simply put it away in the winter, and sell again when the time is right.
Car can be viewed anytime,day or night, I work 4/5 days a week,sometimes on a Saturday,so sundays would be best..
Please no messers,dreamers or idiots texting at 12pm,asking me "whats the lowest,etc"... ive seen it all and dealt with most,so you wont get a reply...
