Poor Subaru, so little updates of late. Well, not any more... Found space in the Skunkworks by some cunning maneuvres. Well, I sold a long standing project actually. Plus point, I can now get this back in and make some serious headway... Yea boi! First task was to strip off all the loose fitted panels and such that I had placed on to make it look like less of a scrapper just lying in the driveway. Then, pick up the prepared engine that has been tripping me up for months, just lying ever so slightly in the way... ...and throw it in. Looks like mega progress, but its not really. I have it mated to the box now and on the mounts, but despite my best efforts I have not got the release bearing engaged yet. I can hear the faintest of clicks as it pops on the spigot, but its *just* managing to not lock in place. More fannying around here will be needed. Also, that inlet manifold is coming back off. I'll explain why next...

So, why take the inlet off? Well, the turbo inake routes between it and the block, and its an awkward thing to maneuvre at the best of times. Even worse when its a bigger silicone hose affair! Sorted now though... Had to take a radiator out my Camry last night, so this is as much as I managed...

Very mild progress on this since the TVR arrived. The clutch release bearing engagement had been bothering me, namely because despite my firmest thumps, it had not engaged. I walked past it again last night, niggled as per, and addressed it. My first logic was to try and engage it with the crank rotating, so I hand cranked it to no avail. Not wanting to have to remove the entire engine, I resigned myself to the fact that the fork pin would need to come out. Once done, this gave me a bit more flexibility to engage it at a different angle. It was just what was required. Success!! I followed this up with reattaching the starter, and finding the top bolt has vapourised to the phantom zone. Gruuuugh... OK, slave cylinder, that can go on ... right? Nope. Seized. Looks like a new one of these will be needed. In fairness, its sat exposed tot he elements for near on a year now. Hardly surprising. One last wee job!I decided to replace that tiny length of fuel hose for new. It was solid and sits far too close to the turbo for me to take a chance on it bursting.

More ticks off the to-do list! Finished terminating the rest of the replacement fuel lines. Also, managed to get injector caps so they are bolted back in too. Only the fuel pump to reinstall and the fuel system is pressure complete. Next up, ran the loom back in place. Most connectors have found a home, although it looks like the injectors have all been snipped which is pretty annoying. Might be easier to get a new loom, but we shall see what I can dig up on the forums. Starter motor final installed and wired up, so with a battery it should be crank ready. Last up, I think this was upside down the last time I put it on. Rotated it and the HT leads seemed neater, plus the label is now the correct way up. Unfortunately the loom offers no clues as there is plenty of slack no matter which way round its mounted! Coming soon, Turbo reattachment.
