I'm after some recomendations for engine block paint and wiring loom tape.
I want to paint the block, head, and sump all the same red, so one for all would be good.
Thanking-you!

i used halfords own high temp silver engine paint................more like a gun metal grey but i sprayed that on in 2009 and its still looking good now.just degreased the engine, hosed off and once dry sprayed the block. its still jet wash proof even now so i'd recomend that. they do a red too but after the silver being a grey id guess it wont be a gloss red. i also used halford red engine paint (in a tin not aerosol),that goes on well too but use a good brush or itll drag hairs out when you paint. some places needed two coats though !!

second the halfords paint, i did however use the red on some engine components. the red is kind of more satin red then gloss. you can see on the first picture in my blog of some of the red bits.
i used 'metallic black' halfords paint on the main block, came out a shinyish dark silver i feel it looks pretty nice.

I havnt used these but i think they are the original VHT paint from the U.S . They look to be a bit more pricey but they have a good range . They must be ok if its been around for donkeys years . This ebay seller has a good range of colours , i don't know if you can get it cheaper some where else maybe ? stores.ebay.co.uk/PartsORama/_i.html?_nkw=vht&submit=Search&_sid=126263031

I have personally, just recently used some of that paint on my rocker cover. Its almost got a textured effect, the coverage is pretty good and not too pricey Sent from my RM-821_eu_euro1_514 using Tapatalk

Yeah, VHT paints are awesome! I've used the wrinckle paint on a rocker cover and on a exhaust manifold heat shield - no problems there And the spray cans have very good spray nozzles, it's nice to work with them!

PJ1 heat proof paint is great. Not cheap but sprays and covers well. However their exhaust paint is difficult to get to cover - it does stay on 2 stroke expansion chambers though.
Not sure what temperature range you need but in the past I used normal cellulose on an aircooled 4 stroke engine and it was fine for the couple of years I had it.

I should log in more.
Thank you for the replies, after only reading the reply from mr, I got some Halfords stuff the next time I was in there. Haven't used it yet, but will report back eventually.
Still need loom tape, there's a choice on the website mentioned above. I was hoping for first hand recommendations on particular brands or even just advice on fabric or self amalgamalgamating or whatever. . . . so I spose you need to know its appearance is most important for my needs. Easiest to clean then? . .
