Had a quick search but finding it hard to get pics or build threads. I've just bought a long wheel base vauxhall midi so planning a camper conversion it's currently an 8 seater so will be removing all the rear seats, it's got windows all round so with some tinting or curtains and some ply it will be a perfect base! Just wondered if anyone could share pics of there conversions?! Has anyone managed to build a "rock and roll" or fold out bed along the van that retains seating for a couple of people in the back? Looking at having sleeping space for 2 and cooking and cleaning facilities, not bothered about a porta loo or anything, been toying with the idea of a hammock inside incase I wanted more people to sleep in the back? Collecting the van later on today so will update with pics!

Id say this too ^^ I'm a member of the t4/5 forum as i have a lwb t5 and a swb t4. My t5 is an ongoing conversion, my t4 is a work van in essence, although ive converted it to tdi. As for converting, If your carpeting it out, Get on megavanmats, and use their megastretch kit!!! Its the most awesome thing ever! Comes with spray glue and its sooo easy to use a child could do it. I did mine , alone with no instruction and it looks like a factory job. Ill be doing my t4 soon too. Id reccomend some ply if its all windows atm, It gets cold if you have lots of glass in there. Tint the windows, get some ply panels over the rear side windows at least, leaving you with the rear door and the windows directly behind the front seats to use. Behind the ply you can use recycled bottle insulation from b&q, cheap and easy to pack in behind it all, Makes it very warm and alot quieter., I also used radiator refelctive insulation either side of that, and some bichumen tape on the panels to stop it vibrating... Once you remove the seats from a van it gets a bit loud...

Our Iveco Iris 16 seater (ex-council patient transport) holiday bus - based on an Iveco Daily We kept 4 passenger seats, added net curtains, had LOADS of space on our recent trip around Scotland (Me, Missus, 3 birds, 2 dogs) We even had space to put the large bed down in the back at night The seats are on "Unwin" quick release mounts, makes it very easy to add seats for family daytrips / remove for more floorspace. (we have a few spare sets of mounts - PM me if you need more info ) Not decided yet what to do about fitting out the back, but as it's all empty we have a pretty much blank canvas

I've always built my own cheapo interiors. I appreciate a proper built one would be way better, but equally it would be more expensive (and I'm tight!) My old earlybay when I got it; After; Nothing special, just a basic rock and roll bed and some lino, but it cost me the grand total of 99p in total and made it usable for camping. I spent a bit more on my T4 (around £90) to go from an empty builders van in similar condition to the inside of the bay, to this; Rock 'n' roll beds are pretty simple to make. I tend to keep my eyes open for old futon/sofa bed frames and rob the hinges from them.

Cheers for the reply guys! The last post is exactly what I'm looking at really more pics like that would be great! I'm looking at rock and roll beds but might do a wrap around seat behind the front seats with a way of folding it out to make a 5ft wide bed to span the whole width I want units down the end with a sink and cooker. The load bay is 10ft long by 5ft wide so there is tons of space!

if you don't want the expense of I pop up room. having the kitchen across the back is a good option. then you can cook outside under the tailgate.

I have plenty of room on the inside for cooking its 10 foot long so I'm thinking of having a wrap around seat behind both front seats that's 4 foot 6 wide and 6foot 3 long and having the cut out section of the sofa as a table which can be used to complete the bed. At the end of the bed on the drivers side will be 4 foot of worktops and units with cooker and sink etc. That leaves pretty much the whole of the other side free if I want to take my bikes etc in the back

Not my build but a couple of rock and roll beds I've trimmed which show how you can design the interior down to every detail. The client for the black and green bed was very particular of certain details.
