Greetings. Need some advise on bonding fibreglass panels to steel panels. Namely a colonge kit to a capri. Reckon my best bet will be the 3m sticky stuff, 2 pack that mixes in the massively pricey gun. My question is what to do about coating the steel underneath. Should the eppxoy go onto bare steel, etched or painted or what? Obviously it would suck to have panels falling off, and suck just as much if the steel rotted under the glue. Is riveting even an option? Wouldnt want to go with the exposed rivet look on this car it would have to be smoothed over so whats the chances of rivet heads showing through?
And whats the best way of (trying) to cover the seam between plastic and steel without it cracking over time? Is there a flexible filler thats commonly used? Obviously the two materials will heat and cool at different rates so expansion and contraction will cause normal filler to crack quickly id have thought?
Many thanks
