Hello, up for sale is my 1989 Honda Accord Aerodeck EX 2.0 Automatic.
This car has been a real journey. I will try and explain as best I can. (Feel free to scroll down to the bottom for a simpler list of details)
I bought the car a couple of years ago from carandclassic.co.uk whilst looking for a cheap run around. This little beauty has popped up not too far away requiring a little TLC but with tax and mot. I quickly went down to view it and picked it up that evening. I noticed on the way home there was a misfire, I thought it would be something simple, maybe just a carb clean/rebuild. Due to work commitments I never had time or money to have a look into it.
Then I had a career change and with my new found wealth decided to go all out and buy a much newer car on finance and sell the Honda on to an "enthusiast" (Big mistake trust me). After nearly a year of the old girl being gone I decided to message the person I had sold it to and see how it was doing, turned out it was on ebay again, passed an MOT with no advisories but still missfiring.
I bought it back without thinking twice (For much more than I sold it for... grr) and took it home, this time I would have time to work on it and get it running well!
I ended up taking the head off on my search to diagnose the fault and discovered a burnt exhaust valve. This has now been replaced and the old girl runs brilliantly!
Unfortunately I am now moving house and no longer have room for her. So I have accepted she needs a new home.
Good points:
New head gasket (and all other top end gaskets etc whilst the head was off)
New exhaust valve. all other valves re seated at the time.
110,000 miles from new
Electric windows and mirrors
Pop up headlights!
Smooth automatic 4 speed
The best power steering I have felt in a car (Seriously the easiest car to park in the world and then nice and responsive on the back roads!)
Fully independent twin wishbone suspension front AND back (A Honda first!)
Bulletproof A20A1 carbed 12 valve engine.
MOT until august (Will put through the next MOT if it expires before it sells (I am 99% sure it will pass as it has only done 1,000 miles since the last MOT)
Not so good points:
Some rust patches here and there (Never been welded as its never had to be)
Drivers side CV joint clicks when turning whilst accelerating
Damaged outer passenger side wing mirror casing
Could do with a new radiator (Doesn't over heat or anything, just doesn't look brilliant)
No Tax
Person who bought it off me had the bumpers/lower half painted in stone chip paint (Can be painted over maybe in twin tone to look like the EXi model?)
Carb need a little bit of a tune (although I'm actually being honest this time!) Idles a little lumpy and runs a little rich at low revs, still drives fine!
I would like her to go to a good home as she deserves to. Not many on the road these days but a very strong community for them over at 3Geez!
Price - Ideally I would like £400 for her but this can be negotiated as I would like her to go to the right person!
Also I would potentially be interested in Swaps/Part ex for a similar aged Honda c90? or anything up to 125cc
Located in York.
Any questions please don't hesitate to contact me;
Tel - 07544855453 ( I work 07:30-16:30 so can only reply to texts within that time)
Email - Michael.r08@hotmail.co.uk
Really need to shift the car now as I have no space for it! Last thing I want to do is scrap it!
