That's a fine ride. Takes me back a bit looking at that. I had a Raleigh Bomber a few years ago but I couldn't find any of the bits to get it back to original such as the saddle and the blue tyres. I gave it to my dad and he turned it into something mutant - quite different from what Raleigh had designed! Well done with this one.

Thanks Düdo. And in the nicest possible way-the Bomber looks kinda mutant anyway with its 'bent' top frame, still a classic though and a bike I remember well.

Have you any photos/link of your bikes?

That's stunning!!! (The pair of them), I've seen this on the Grifter forum (If I'm correct?) I'm onto my next project now, another Grifter with a Kustom theme based on a very famous late 70's early 80's orange American car.....details coming soon But yes, that Caddy is a work of art, loving the chromework on it.

I've just spotted this thread, we have similar fleets coincidentally, mine includes 2 x Garlton GSis and 2 x Grifters. I have restored a few bikes but not the Grifters.
Nice work, in fact outstanding work on those mudflaps.
You could get the original rivets from someone on ebay to fit them a while ago (I used some) not sure if they are still available bu it might be worth a look. For painting them, it might be worth a visit to your local vehicle paint suppier, you can get aerosol plastic primer to prevent peeling and paint with plasticiser added so its flexible.
I don't know if you care about it but a crank with the black plastic disc might be good to get, a lot got broken so a good one is nice to see.
Great work.

Great work. Thanks Chris, yeah it does seem that we have similar tastes in cars and bikes I'm keeping the rivets as they are (though I will be painting them black) until I move onto the next point which is the flexi paint for the mudflaps, once I get some of this paint I'll replace the flaps and rivets then she'll be properly finished.... after I source a (reasonably priced) crank cover I've been offered one but at £30 I thought it was a bit steep (It was scuffed up too!)... Then it'll be complete.

A stunning MK1, nice to see another Grifter Forum member on here too.
What's the progress of your custom Grifter? I understand the appeal of these as i think once mine is finished another will be sourced to modify.

The Custom has been put on hold at the moment as we're expecting a baby in May so I've been busy collecting baby stuff. Normal business should resume once the baby dust has settled. Incidentally my good friend 'Matto' has just joined the Grifter forum after just purchasing a 1980 blue prizzy, I know him through the classic/retro car scene as he owns a 1984 Mk2 Cav Sri. ....so that's four of us (myself, matto, yourself, and chris y) on this thread alone who own Grifters and Vauxhalls.......spooky!!
