Hi Guys, I am in a situation where I need to rent unit or even a barn that is half secure. I phoned about an available unit this morning now it was a fair bit bigger than what I needed but seemed a bit expensive. What should I be expecting to roughly pay for a unit or space that could hold say 3 cars and some tools. Cheers

when I was renting a standard width, 20 foot container - it essentially worked out to £1, per 8 square foot, per week That was in a secure lockup, key entry, cameras, etc, etc. So personally, that's the benchmark I compare storage to

That sounds a bit more sensible, I found a unit local to me, I am not sure of its exact size but it was pretty big (maybe 6 - 8 cars) but the guy was asking 50 quid a week... I am looking for something more like 20 quid a week lol.

Location, use and access play a large part. I've been looking for some time now and 600 is normal for a unit in Southampton which is enough for maybe 3 cars - Joke if you ask me... I'd be ripping the guy's arm off for 50 per week with that kind of space (50 will get you a council garage here)!

Maybe you could take a few quid off someone to store their project or whatever to reduce your own costs a bit?

Location makes a big difference to prices, up here my 1500sq/ft unit is £600 a month and that's a lot cheaper than anything else i found in or around the town. Pop over the pennies to the west about 40miles and the same size unit is about £200 a month

My old storage place was £45 a month, fit one car, and some stuff, next to my buds garage so equipment was no issue, there was four of us sharing the space, so £180 a month dropped lucky till the landlord decided to kick every one out and rent the full unit for £250 a month to a decidedly dodgy bloke who broke cars up and stored parts He hardly ever paid the rent, so was duly kicked out. Have an Albanian car wash chap there now, he is on borrowed time. I will punt an offer when said landylord has had enough
