So after the positive comments from damm yankees show and the fact that I'm kinda happy with how it looks now ,I thought it would stick a thread up for my 63 Tbird .
I originally saw the car for sale in North Carolina ,on a H.A.M.B thread back in sept 2012 . after looking through a load pictures an satisfying myself as best you can ,that the seller wasn't going to do a bunk with my hard earned cash ,I took the plunge and shipped it home. Four months later and a load of excuses from the shipper it finally arrived .
I wasn't disappointed ,it was exactly as described ,phew...
This is how she looked in the for sale ad.
As with everything I own I couldn't do the standard car thing ,so is lopped a couple of coils off the front and stuck a set of 14" rockets on
I knew from the start that she had to be laid out on airbags ,so that was the next job.
After a little research I found the best option was gonna be ridetech shockwaves up front and air over leaf in the rear.
Unfortunately the shockwaves don't allow the car to sit low enough with the standard upper arm mounts ,so we cut a hole in the arm and mounted them through instead, this gave me an extra three inches of drop
The rear is just a case of removing a few leaves ,welding a bracket to the chassis and bolting them in.
Control dutys are taken care of by a little larrys fourplay manual valve body ,this does away with the wiring needed with normal valve set ups,it's a great bit of kit.
This is how she looked for last years show season ,with her new astro supreme replicas and pinner white walls.
This year I decided she needed something to make her stand out from the crowd .so being a massive fan of the whole bellflower ,Los boulevardos look and after spending hours dribbling over gene winfield and larry Watson photos ,I went to see my best mate Kerry at coes kustoms to see if he could squeeze me in.
Inspiration came from the gambino kustoms starliner and pictures of a 57 Tbird Watson painted in the 60's..
We started with a repaint in the original diamond blue (white almost ) to give us a fresh base ,then laid out the basic panels in vauxhall Icelandic blue pearl .to this we added fish scales, fades and lace patterns with blue candy.
So this is pretty much where I'm up to at the moment.
Plans for this year still include metal flaking and patterning the fake wood interior panels ,new carpet though out and trimming out the boot area.
Next year I may well bite the bullet and strip the vinyl roof off and get Kerry to go mad with the flake and candy on it.
