Bike carbs - how easy to fit and tune up?

Been looking into fitting bike carbs to the Lada as the original carburettor can't be salvaged, and the only new replacements i can get look like a worse quality than the original one (which isn't the best to start with).

So i was thinking about putting on a set of bike carbs.

Anybody know what type to fit onto a 1200cc car, and how easy it's going to be?

Also, I know i will have to get a manifold made, so anybody able to make one for me?

Not sure about fitting them to cars, specifically 1200cc, but from my years of tuning bikes and racing the best performing and reliable carbs I have Found are 32mm del-auto flat slides. Work very very well, dead simple
To maintain and tend not to get full of gunk and curse word as long as an inline fuel filter is used too.

Cant help with size, i used 36mm on my 2.1 pinto, off a 1000cc bike, they were Keihin CVKs from memory, i would say 32mm may work on yours?

As far as setting up, they aren't too bad, you will need to advance the timing a fair bit and you will need a pressure reg to reduce the psi as they tend to run at a lower pressure than car carbs, get yourself a colourtune, helped me set mine up so much! Also give bogg bros a call, really helpful and know their stuff, in my opinion they are worth the faff, once set up they seem to stay in sync, used mine daily for 2 years and never had to adjust them in that time and mpg wise they were better than the dgas i had on it under normal driving, did drink a bit if you floored it though.

i had a carb off a mk2 escort on mine, its the same bolt patten, but i was on cable, not linkage, I'm sure itll work ok after a few little mods.

If its a 1200CC car and revs to around 6k, then you would be suited to carbs from a 600cc bike because they rev to around 12k (same max airflow).

That's basically how you can ball park it.

Loads of guys do bike carbs on 1300 vw engines (mk2, mk1 golfs, polos etc), there is plenty of info around the web, give it a google and that may help you out =D fuel pressure regulator and gauge is a massive help too.
