That in interior?! Blimey...!!!!!!!!! It is almost white compared to the 'dirty' colour it was pre-thinners...
I'm sorry to hear about your engine woes, I'm sure you'll get it nailed pretty darn soon and all will be smooth and silky!
This car is one of the nicest machines I've seen in yonks and you're one lucky chap...!

Bruce, I don't know if you ever look on detailing world at all, from your cars, I believe your prefer patina, and age in your vehicles! If you need any advice try "The Devil Is In The Detail 07958 241377" Ted is a specialist in Mercedes restoration, and he may be able to give you some advice. Here is some work he has carried out on a lovely 230SL W113, he has worked in the industry for years, and has started the above business after retirement! www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=280273I really cant believe the colour change, and really don't envy you when it comes to looking at that roof!!

Having never seen a 108 with this style of headlights, I have to say I prefer these over the oblong shaped ones. Very nice and a gem of a car (not that the Daimler wasn't). I actually can't believe the difference the thinners makes to the interior, smoking is one dirty habit. Do the thinners just wipe on/wipe off Bruce, or is it more a case of scrubbing? Probably make sense to feed that leather soon if the thinners have opened up all the pores in it. Glad to see this and the Land Rover, two of my most favorite cars on here

On Saturday, a guy wearing a suit drove all the way down from Stoke on Trent and posed for a photo with my car. His name is John and he is an utter legend!

Nice car. But complicated for it's time. I know nothing about MB mechanical injection, except what I just read here www.sl113.org/wiki/Fuel/InjectionOn Lucas PI, the engine load is measured by manifold vacuum and this is a frequent cause of problems as vacuum leaks or mechanical engine problems cause the metering unit to think there is more load than there is. On the MB PI I haven't even figured out how it gets a load signal..... Good luck! Nick

On the MB PI I haven't even figured out how it gets a load signal..... It's a direct linkage beween the throttle and the pump - lots of rods, pivots, and ball joints. The pump itself is closer to a diesel pump than anything else, but it has a considerably more complex metering head - there's a cam in the pump which physically carries the fuel map as a 2-D height profile. It's rotated by the throttle linkage, and shifted axially by a pair of bob-weights. A stylus measures the height of the cam and adjusts the rack to alter the fuel output. There are loads of adjustments, all of which are dependent on the others. And we didn't even know if the pump was working properly and just needed setting up, or whether it was broken...

I then wanted to start cleaning the interior as it stinks of wood (the material not the smell of a boner) best quote ever!
