Hi,
that looks awesome.
For my sins I’ve owned ten E23s in the period 1992-date. Like any car they are a mix of good and bad points.
1 VRK 43X 728i opal grun 2 DAZ 9068 (A regd) 735 Executive bronzit-beige 3 C659 YFH 732i polaris 4 C400 EKM 735i polaris 5 B95 VJT 735i cosmos blau 6 B450 WYR 732i Graphit 7 C341 VNP 728i polaris 8 C878 WLC 728i Arctic blau 9 BYJ 608Y 735i opal grun 10 A108 VAM 732i opal grun
The only real long-term ownership downer for me has been rust. Everything else is fixable. The HVAC system is over complicated. its vacuum actuators do not last the life span of the car and are they not easy to get at, to replace them. After 20 years of E23s I’m moving on and am looking at ten-year-old modern cars but struggle to find anything with character. E65s have quirky looks that at least don’t look like every other car out there.

Yeah, sad ain't it? Perhaps I'm an evil banger racer. Happy to get involved with anything E23 shaped. I lived in Braintree until June. Where are you? Did you see the bronze-beige 728i for sale in braintree on ebay two weeks ago. Tempting!!

I'm Chelmsford.
No didnt see it, i have had an e28 before so fancied a change, and i liked this as its the original 7 series, if i had another 5 id wanted to go e12 but they make e23s seem positively common on the used market!

How frustating that I left Essex. I was local to you until June. Now I'm in East Sussex. I have a BMW pal in Gt. Leighs not far from you. I'm happy to help with any queries, not that I actually know anything.

Excellent cars, much maligned car today which is a shame and in many respects a far better car than the e28. Phil is that you? I reckon you know more on the e23 than many others I know in the club! To anyone liking the e23, take a look at the few FB pages that are cropping up. Mines here>> e23 stuff

Mines here>> e23 stuffThe E28 lads will be baying for your blood for saying that. E28s are very tall and narrow and look quite small these days. E23s are wide and long and to my eyes are a lovely classic simple three-box saloon shape. I prefer the E23 tail lights to the huge E28 chromed tail lights. I think the E12 is lovely to look at. Interest is definitely picking up in E23s. My phone is ringing off the hook with E23 related calls from Scotland, Eire and England. Come on Wales, where are you?!

Nice car, i'll keep an eye on this! I've got an 83 735 which i've had for a couple of years. It doesn't really get enough use, though i did drive it to the Le Mans Classic last month, which was good. I think the resistors for the heater fan speed are mounted on the heater fan casing, they are on my car though it does have a/c. Also, I'm after some pearl beige cloth seats, either a complete set or parts to repair my driver seat if you or anyone else reading this knows of any. They are hard to find!

Hi, if you do get that tow bar off in one bit I would love to buy it from you. I tried to buy it from the previous owner but he never got back to me. Will PM you.
Glad somebody did buy this car. Has bee. On RR for quite a while so god to know it's staying in the fold. I'm bring mine to RR gathering. Anyone fancy an E23 get together on the day?

"When and we're is a RR gathering?"
Retro-Rides gathering?
What about an E23 gathering at a barn in Minety, Wilts? Barn dance with cider, hog-roast, morris dancing, BMW dancing etc

Awesome 728i. I'll have my E23 at RRG (camping Saturday), a green/gold early 730.

Is RR september? Ill see how i'm fixed for weekends there.
Managed to get out today and unstick the rear door handle by whipping off the door card and WD40 ing it. Smooth as you like now
Unfortunately the actuator seems to have packed up as wiring looks fine but not locking with CL
Any of you guys got a spare actuator i can try?
