Up for sale is my 1985 Jaguar XJ6 Series 3 3.4
I simply don't have time to give it the attention it deserves so I'm hoping someone else can. There's a bit of a funny story behind this one...
Bought by my brother from Practical Classics magazine, the car needed an engine and a bit of tidying up. We all travelled to the Le mans Classic in it in 2011 and it was amazing. Unfortunately shortly afterwards my brother had to sell the car, and it ended up at a restoration company in Doncaster. After they resprayed it, and fitted a new headlining (which has dropped again) it was sold to a guy in London. I found the car on ebay about 3 months ago and decided it had to be bought back.
Unfortunately, on the way home the car had big end failure, and this is the main reason for selling it. Whilst I have the space/ability to fix it I simply don't have the time. I'll list the good and bad points below, it makes things easier.
Good points -
VERY good bodywork - not immaculate but shines up very well, all the original jacking points can be used and no bubbles on doors/sillls/wings etc
MOT and Tax - Tax until November, unsure of the MOT but I think It's around 9 months.
4 x Matching Pirelli P4000 Tyres with good tread, on good Pepperpot wheels - worth around £500 on their own!
No suspension/braking/electrical work needed - everything works as it should, no knocks or rattles.
Bad points -
Needs an engine. Although there is one fitted, It's not the original and needs rebuilding. It has E-Type smooth rocker covers and 2" carbs. The ancilliarys can all go again though.
No exhaust manifolds/downpipe - removed when i started to take the engine out...unfortunately I can't find them...I'll keep looking!
Seats have rips in them. Interior is used...dash veneer is ok, headlining is new but sagging (it would re-glue up) carpets are fine. Ideally needs a set of seats.
1 x front shock absorber missing - I stole this for my everyday car - Another reason I'm elling...it's WAY too good to become a donor.
Summary -
A good, rot free, MOT'd and Taxed, good looking XJ6 that if you fitted an engine and a front shocker you could be using again immediately. The interior could use a freshen up but it's not essential.
I'm asking £750 as I desperately want to keep this car out of banger territory...Series 3's are getting rare and this definitely is a good one. It just needs that little push.
I'm in the center of Chesterfield, Derbyshire and the car can be viewed any day or evening/weekend you like. Any questions, additional information or photos again, please just ask. I'm open to offers or swaps but please don't be too insulting...I love this car!
