The Japanese can just "do" cars can't they?! Please say there's also some questionably modified stuff floating about? There actually is. However I think their dedication to details and getting things 'right' in all things prevails in their car world as well, so stuff that doesn't work so well is the exception rather than the rule. They also may be trying to do a style they don't really understand, but that is where the interesting stuff comes up, like those Brazilian guys building UK style cars and I guess our attempts at Bosozoku style things

I don't know what it is.... but I like it! A Mitsubishi Debonair, which although looking very 60s in appearance, was manufactured right up until the mid 80's. There was a single example in the UK, which our own RatDat owned, then sold to a friend. Despite the VRM I believe it was an early 80's model. I found another picture of [presumably] the same car wearing an X-suffix plate. Sadly it ended up like this... Laurel(?) is just right Nissan 300C, Laurel's big brother.

I would like to see more of the pink van in whitewalls in the background here. I can't tell if it's going to be awesome or so-so from the peeps I've got of it.

Wow! Stunning. So many amazing ideas being played through such variety. The one car that I think I would choose to run in my life right now, would be that Fairlady. Great show, great thread.

Thanks for taking the time to post.
I think what sets the Japs apart is their attention to detail. Their builds seem so complete.
They do seem to like the old smog masks though...

lovely show report. another thread of the year vote for me although i'll forget by the time the voting comes around. oh and just to say i think i might be japanese without realising. The show set ups of the vans with accessorised co-ordinated toy wagons (funky fantasy) is pretty much how i set up at shows

So, I said I was done, but Ive decided to tag a little extra onto this thread. You see, when we organised this holiday, we were supposed to be going for 3 weeks, but the ladies could only get 2 weeks off from work. So it was agreed they'd come back a week early and we would get a week of car shenanigans. This opportunity came up while the girls were there and we managed to persuade them it was a good idea. However, they've gone and the whole reason why Id found out about this show was that HoTWire had visited the Moon Eyes cafe and posted it on facebook (I then visited the website and saw the dates were favourable). So we decided to go to the Moon Eyes Cafe in Yokohama! After a seemingly endless 'negotiation' with a taxi driver (My Japanese is BAD, I showed him a google map with our current location and the location of the Cafe pointed out, all the street names were in Japanese.... but no.... he wanted to talk. I don't know how many times I said "Wakarimasen" (I don't understand). Still... we got there!) Nice setup outside the store I don't think I can actually get ENOUGH gold flake at the moment Rad So we stayed. I had the biggest burger Ive ever seen as a birthdayish treat to myself. The diner is really cool, lovingly turned out, then we spent a good while pottering around the store. Hardcore bought some things, and we exited out the back to see what was going down. It was completely dark and I had no tripod/monopod so these are shady. The owners daily (we chatted to him for a bit, he was very proud it was static and not on air) Some odds and sods parked up. We chatted with the owner a bit more and told him we enjoyed the street car nationals. He was a totally cool guy. We said we were heading to Daikokufuto next and he nodded approvingly. He then headed off and we noticed a massive parking lot out back Sadly it was so dark most of my pictures came out junk There was a nice Camaro on the back of a flatbed too (not shown) No gate on this place! These are just left out.... Bye bye! Off to Daikokufuto....... (Now would be a great time to do a Daikokufuto thread.... but I don't have the processing things I need right now so itll probably be Ebisu next)

I've pulled the Daikokufuto pics, they aren't great :/ a lot of grain and I missed a lot of cool cars, I think I gave up trying to take pics with no tripod after a while. I don't think Andy fared much better! Ill stick them up anyways.... Just got to wait for the end of the month or my Photobucket account will run out of bandwidth Again thanks for the kind words, we were just observers and recommend people just go. Planning for some things is essential, others (like this!)... not so much.
