Evening all....
Fitted rear seatbelts today to the wolseley and am really happy with them. They are very solid but wondered what happens come mot time...are they testable? hes a 1965 1500 and had no original mountings etc for belts in the back so ive picked positions and reinforced them with large plate type washers behind the panels that they're drilled through, will they be heavily scrutinised or am I better off just removing them come mot time?
Many thanks
Pete.

My understanding is that if fitted, they will be tested. But if people are going to be using them, surely it's best if they are solid enough to pass the test anyway? Cheers Duncan

Totally agree duncan...just not sure if they cause a problem due to not being original fitment and the fact that I chose where to put them...very happy that they're strong enough, far stronger than the fronts I would say, I wouldnt put my kids in something I wasnt happy with.

If they are fitted they have to be tested and in good condition the security of them and corrosion within 30cm of mountains will also be testable, as long as they are good you shouldn't have a problem

As said above they are tested but only for corrosion around the mounting point and the actually condition of the belt and securing device this however doesn't mean that they are safe and would restrain a passenger in the event of an incident, you can only do the best you can to ensure it is secure by taking the sensible approach of beefing up the mounting point as you already have done.no need to remove them for the MOT.
