RRG Pics and Gathering Wants - Lollyvov 850!

Secondly I've now got a massive hankering for a Lollyvov 850! The Aerodeck I have has been invaluable in my photography travels recently but I'm starting to do more travelling and need a little more storage and also a flat rear bed for... well, lying in while taking tracking shots.

The 850 is highest on my want list, partly due to it's age (I can just about squeeze the 850 into my classic insurance policy) although I've not completely written off the early V70's if someone can make a strong case for them.

I'm curious as to what people know about them, what I should be looking out for and any advice or arguments I'll probably drop some of the split leather/suede seats in, and drop a fair few 'R' aesthetic mods on. Dark blue/green with matt black bonnet and roof and WOW, I'm there! haha

Agree about the 850, they are a great looking car and one I've always wanted. And they make a great noise on song what's not to like ;D

Not sure about how they fair now but had both T5R and V70R variants 'back in the day' and have to say that preferred the T5R over the V70.

Think it looks harder and the touring car aspect definitely helped. Also seemed to remember having to have the v70 brakes upgraded by Volvo due to chronic brake fade.

Haha hello mate didn't realise it was you as for the cleaning that only happens very rarely usually fiver at the local hand wash all pics are good post them up

Big yes to Volvo-life, but a big no to the black bonnet! Seen it done and it looks gash!

deffo on the 850 front - i've had loads! Love my T5, you can get anything in it and it goes like a rocket! The 850 T-5R is a rare car now, but look for a good 850R, lots of power and a bit less rare. Make sure you get a low mileage one (so under 200,000)... hehe! Mine just hit 206k but they should be good for 300 (thousand miles and bhp)!

Also - if you find a yellow 850 T-5R estate for sale anywhere... GET YOUR BLOODY HANDS OFF... I've been after one for AGES!

also - stay clear of the V70 - good cars but lack the real essence of the volvo build quality you get with the 850 (and they don't have a boost gauge... lame!)

Must dig out my old photos of my YELLOW 850T5R.

My boss went mental when it turned up in the company car park as, in his view, it looked like a tarts handbag....

The swear filter would not be able to cope with his comment on my Gold V70R a few years later....
