Just bought a 1992 MR2 SW20 (non power steering model) and drove it back from edinburgh. It had quite tremendous steering wheel wobble, which I knew before I bought it and still put it down to the front wheels being improperly balanced. After all it does have Wang Li Ching Ho tyres.
BUT! My main problem is that when taking a slow turn to the right, and letting the steering wheel return to its natural position, it ends up slightly off kilter to the right and the car will pull in the direction. The same problem happens when I make a left turn, but the wheel will finish slightly off kilter to the left and pull in that direction. After a while of driving straight it and I let go of the wheel itll be back in the middle again and not pull either way.
I'm stuck for ideas here now. Alignment is probably off but I reckon its worn bushes somewhere allowing play in the steering. Dad thinks its that the adjustment for the steering column is too tight so isnt "loose" enough to go all the way back straight.
Maybe its something silly, but as long as its something I can do myself i'll be chuffed Might need a replacement column or rack?
