mercedes w202...another one!

after selling my E280 last week i set about trying to find another w202 to join my turbodiesel one
just love the quality of these old mercs in three years the diesel one has been superb
this rare colour one came up in essex so i shot over and bought it, i drives spot on and the gunmetal grey suits it well.
plans are a slight lowering and some nice bbs style rims

Nice one MD. I'm biased of course as I have owned one for the last 6 years - it's a 1998 C240, 2400cc V6 petrol estate.  Bought it with 90,000 miles on, now on 142,000.  Apart from service items and tyres it has cost me very little to run.  The only addition I have made to it is fitting SLK alloys.  Like I said - nice one.

just a small update on the w202, managed to find a one piece original rear window blind, painted the grille insert black, thanks to a tip on here, just been trying for weeks to sort wheels due to merc offsets been a nightmare sourcing aftermarket ones, so i bought these refurbeb clk alloys pleased with how it looks now, still undecided about a slight lowering?




oh and i found a use for he taxdisc holder!

If you decide to lower it I've a very nearly new set of -40mm springs in S.W.London if they're of any use?

Doesn't seem to be a lot of love on here for these ,, shame I've owned all sorts of cars in the last 28 years these are without doubt one of the most reliable well built cars around for sensible money,, would I pay £1000 for a nice one of these or £1000 for a rotten welded up fords from the same era.... Merc all day for me thanks, get one bought now before there all gone

Well I like em, never a truer word spoken about knackered cars, A little bit of homework goes along way these days, I for one wouldn't entertain buying a pile of rust and filler especially for the same cash as a top drawer ride, it's not rocket salad......

I'm seriously considering one of these but people keep telling me that they aren't nearly as well made as 190's, any truth to that? Diesel 190's are mega-money and I wouldn't mind a C250TD with cruise...

I have a 250td we use as our daily, it's a superb car and built very well, recently sold my later e class that build quality was poor... Sold it and went back to another older c class,, buy one fella look for under 100,000 miles and it will last years

Might do, if I get a diesel I should save enough on juice to get a second car, plus I fancy auto and cruise...

Sport and Esprit models come with a 1" suspension drop compared to base models so sourcing some OEM springs from one of those models might be a cheaper / better option compared to aftermarket 'lowering' suspension things.

This is mine with factory slightly lower suspension as you can tell, well hardly.. lol.



or not now thinking about it, I may be talking balls.
